Kim Chul Best Builds

In this section, you'll find two recommended builds for Kim Chul.

The first build shows you the best possible Weapons and Artifacts for Kim Chul, while the second offers some great alternatives that are fantastic for beginner players or those who cannot fully replicate his best build.

Break Build

Kim Chul is a Light-element Fighter whose damage output scales from his Defense stat. When gearing him up, his stat priorities should be Defense > Break > HP > Defense Penetration > Light Damage (%).

Best Weapon

WeaponEffects
A Guardian's Wish - Solo Leveling Arise
A Guardian's Wish
Increases the user's Defense by 2.5%*.
When Kim Chul attacks a [Stunned] target, attacks by ignoring 8 %* of the target's Defense for 5 seconds.
Cooldown: 5 second(s)
*Values increase with higher Advancement Levels

Kim Chul's best Weapon is A Guardian's Wish, which increases his scaling stat (Defense) and allows him to deal more damage to stunned enemies, which synergizes perfectly with his skill kit.

NOTE: SSR Weapons (i.e. Exclusive Weapons) for SR Hunters like Kim Chul are currently unavailable in Solo Leveling: Arise, as you cannot get them from any source yet. Consider using Kim Chul's Alternative Weapon that's mentioned further below until you're able to get his Exclusive Weapon!

Best Artifacts

ArtifactsEffects
Solid Analysis artifact icon - Solo Leveling: Arise
(4) Solid Analysis
Equip 2 Pieces: Your damage dealt to enemies in the [Break] state increases by 15%.
Equip 4 Pieces: When attacking the Weakness attribute, increases [Break] effect by 30%.
Outstanding Connection artifact icon - Solo Leveling: Arise
(4) Outstanding Connection
Equip 2 Pieces: When tagging out, increases the Attack of you and your team members by 12% for 10 second(s) (Cooldown: 20 seconds).
Equip 4 Pieces: Increases Attack Increase effect to 28% and duration to 15 second(s).

Kim Chul is one of the best SR units in the game and is a fantastic breaker for players who don't have Baek Yoonho or have him at a high enough Advancement Level.

Equipping him with a full Solid Analysis Artifact set will improve his breaking capabilities against enemies weak against Light. Pairing it up with Outstanding Connection will allow him to support your main DPS and sub-DPS units with Attack buffs when tagging out, which you'll do a lot of anyway given his Passive.

Alternative Build

For those who can't get their hands on the exclusive weapon and the artifacts mentioned above, here are some alternative options that are easier to get.

Alternative Weapon

WeaponEffects
Steel Bow icon - Solo Leveling: Arise - Steel Shield
Steel Shield
Decreases damage taken from Boss Monsters by 4.5%.*
*Values increase with higher Advancement Levels

Aside from his Exclusive Weapon, another great Weapon to equip Kim Chul with would be Steel Shield (SR), which improves his tankiness against bosses and gives him a stat boost to his Defense.

Consider using an A10 Shield (R) as Kim Chul's alternative weapon as well, especially if you don't have Steel Shield at a high enough Advancement Level.

Steel Axe (SR) and Hatchet (R) would be great choices too since they can increase Kim Chul's Defense, just like Shield and Steel Shield.

Alternative Artifacts

ArtifactsEffects
Guardian set - Solo Leveling Arise
(4) Guardian
Equip 2 Pieces: The [Shield] effect increases by 30%.
Equip 4 Pieces:
When a team member (including the player) activates a [Shield], it increases damage dealt by 10% for 10 second(s).
Outstanding Connection artifact set icon - Solo Leveling: Arise
(4) Outstanding Connection
Equip 2 Pieces: When tagging out, increases the Attack of you and your team members by 12% for 10 second(s) (Cooldown: 20 seconds).
Equip 4 Pieces: Increases Attack Increase effect to 28% and duration to 15 second(s).

If you don't mind missing out on additional Break damage and speed provided by the Solid Analysis set, then Guardian would be the next best Artifact set you can give to Kim Chul.

This set not only improves the effects of Kim Chul's shields, but also allows him to give his entire team more DPS whenever he activates his shield-bestowing skills, which he has several of. Pair it up with Outstanding Connection and Kim Chul becomes an effective DPS-support your damage dealers.
