After almost five years, Netflix viewers can finally watch the second season of the acclaimed Danish crime drama Octobre. Few Netflix originals have achieved such widespread critical praise.
Back to Copenhagen’s shadowy underworld
Known for its dark atmosphere and precise psychological intrigue, Octobre quickly became a standout in the Nordic noir genre. The latest six episodes, released on May 7 as Hide and Seek, bring viewers back into the tense, claustrophobic world of Copenhagen. Detectives Naia Thulin and Mark Hess return, facing a new serial killer who forces his victims into a deadly game of hide and seek. The new season is marked by sharp direction and an immersive, gripping story.
Early reviews: will the perfect record hold?
Whether the show maintains its flawless Rotten Tomatoes score remains to be seen, though early response has been overwhelmingly positive. Of the three reviews currently available on Rotten Tomatoes, all praise the show’s consistent quality. Lacy Baugher at RogerEbert.com writes that this season,
“ticks all the narrative boxes that made the initial run such a success.”
Similarly, Felipe Rangel of ScreenRant notes,
“Hide and Seek proves the show deserves its spot among the best foreign series on Netflix.”
For these critics, the Danish thriller remains one of the strongest series in Netflix’s international lineup.
Uncertain future
Despite the successful return, the fate of the series is unclear. As of now, Netflix has not announced a renewal or cancellation for a third season. With Hide and Seek adapting the last published entry from author Sveistrup, there is no indication a new storyline is in development.
Among Nordic crime thrillers, few have sustained such intensity and storytelling precision. Time will tell if this suspenseful saga continues in the future Netflix slate.
