Huawei has had a very obvious problem since the 2019 trade ban took effect, preventing them from using Google's apps and services. Yes, losing Gmail and YouTube hurts, but it completely blocks access to millions of other Android apps on Huawei devices.
To counter that, Huawei has been pushing their own AppGallery store where Huawei users can download third-party apps without Google. It's fairly similar to the app store that Amazon offers.
But AppGallery isn't perfect, and it's still missing quite a few apps. Now Huawei is ramping up their efforts to get developers on board, and they're creating a very generous revenue split with app makers to try and bring more apps into AppGallery.
Huawei AppGallery revenue split
Huawei's app store currently has three categories of apps, including education, gaming, and other. The revenue splits are pretty standard, with education apps getting 80% of their revenue and gaming/other apps bringing in 70%. About what you see from other digital storefronts, with some preferential treatment to education apps.
But right now for developers who sign up by June 30, 2020, those splits are going to be even better. Education and other apps will keep 100% of their revenue for the first year on AppGallery, while education keeps 90% and other apps keep 85% for the second year. Games get an 85% split for the entire first two years on AppGallery.
This move is very clearly designed at pulling over smaller developers and studios into AppGallery to try and bolster Huawei's numbers without the Play Store. It's hard to tell if it'll work, but for tons of small teams, indie games, and other developers, I think it'll at least turn some heads and make people considering bringing their apps over.

Why can’t you just install gapps manually?
You can, ish. It’s not as easy as just installing a few APK’s unfortunately though. There’s a ‘process’ involving backups and an amount of fiddling.
