Huawei releases earnings for the first half of 2019 instead of Q2 to hide trade ban damage 4

Huawei has released their most recent earnings report, but there's something a little strange with the timing. Instead of releasing their report on Q2 2019, Huawei is going to be talking about the first half of 2019 instead. Pretty odd, but there's a reason for that.

Huawei's first half of 2019 has legitimately been fantastic. They've reported phenomenal earnings and continued growth despite most other manufacturers shrinking.

But Q2? That's a different story, and it's mostly because of that trade ban from the US government on Huawei products. Instead of breaking down just the numbers after the trade ban, Huawei put everything together to make their year seem really strong.

And that's not to say that Huawei had a terrible Q2, since we honestly don't know. But we do know that they suffered a major stall in smartphone growth, and many countries and operators are either refusing or unable to use Huawei's 5G equipment to build out networks. There's no way to make those things sound like a positive for Huawei, no matter how well their new phones review.

There's no reason for anyone to panic just yet, but the numbers for the next couple of quarters are going to be very telling, and Huawei won't be able to hide those quite so easily.
