UK retailer reveals price and specifications of Sony Xperia XZ3 ahead of IFA 2018

It was just yesterday that Sony announced it is holding a press conference and a product launch on August 30th at IFA 2018 in Berlin, where the electronics manufacturer would reportedly launch the Xperia XZ3. Today, a UK retailer has posted an image purporting to be the Xperia XZ3 along with some specs and pricing details on its website.

According to the listing page on MobileFun’s website, the Sony Unlocked Xperia XZ3 with 64GB of built-in storage will go on sale in the UK for £749.99, which equates to roughly $994.97. Although the retailer doesn’t state when the handset will begin shipping, the listing does shed some light on the specifications of the XZ3.

  • Screen size: 5.7-Inch
  • Display resolution: 1080 x 2160 pixels
  • Processor: Qualcomm Snapdragon 845
  • Storage: 64GB (MicroSD card Support)
  • Memory: 6GB RAM
  • Rear-facing camera: 19+12MP
  • Front-facing camera: 13MP
  • Operating System: Android
  • Battery size: 3,240mAh

If the image shown on the listing page is correct, the Xperia XZ3 will sport a very similar design language to its predecessor, the XZ2. Something that is noticeable is the fingerprint reader on the rear panel below the vertical strip that houses the dual cameras. If the picture is to be believed, the fingerprint reader is once again be located way too low for comfort, with the user’s index finger likely smearing the camera lens instead of hitting the scanner, as experienced with the XZ2.

For what my pinch of salt is worth, I would throw my weight behind the image on the listing page because it does indeed show the dual rear camera setup that the XZ3 is said to feature. So, now that we know a little more about the Xperia XZ3, what do you think about Sony’s next flagship?

A 1080p screen for a handsome $1000? I want some of that Kool-Aid Sony is drinking.

    • It’s a bit…crap, isn’t it? It could be the best 1080P display in the world and it still wouldn’t be what you want to see in a flagship device costing almost $1000. Or even $750.

Absolutely. For that price, I’d rather buy …..gulp… iPhone X…hahaha. Seriously, at least the iPhone value will hold up well. Sony (and LG for that matter) are delusional if they think consumers will pay an arm and a leg for their devices. Their executives are dense.
