Today, Evan Blass is showing the world what Google's next streaming device looks like.
The device, known as the Chromecast Ultra, appears similar to its predecessor. A circular plastic case houses the internal components and a cable with a USB connector extends from one side. Compared to last year's Chromecast, there is one minor change. Rather than having a Chromecast logo, the Chromecast Ultra is showing Google's ‘G' logo.
This new Chromecast should launch with firmware version 1.21, but don't think last year's model is being left behind. Google plans to sell the Chromecast Ultra alongside the Chromecast (2015) as 4K content isn't quite as mainstream as content providers want it to be. While the existing Chromecast is priced at $35, the Chromecast Ultra is going to sell for $69. The doubling in price is to accommodate for the extra horsepower needed to push 4K content.
Everything Google has coming will be announced at the October 4 event in San Francisco.
