Motorola had an event today, where the star of the show was very clearly the Motorola Razr 50 series of devices. However, that wasn't the only thing that the company showed off today.

The Moto G85, known as the Moto S50 Neo in China, was shown off as a midrange device with a premium look — in fact, it's the first Moto G phone with what Motorola calls an “endless edge display”. Alongside that, Motorola's tracking tag, the Moto Tag, has been unveiled.

The Motorola Moto G85 was unveiled today at Motorola's event, providing something else to look at for people who don't really care too much about the world of foldable phones. The device aims for the middle of the ladder and it does so pretty well.

The Design

The Moto G85 leans into Motorola's current design language, updating the design of its predecessor, which you might know that I am a big fan of. There's something intrinsically premium-looking about it, which is why it elevates the G85 so well. You get a flat back panel that smoothly curves around down around the sides and up to join the camera bump.

The back panel has a vegan leather finish that you can get in Viva Magenta, Gadget Gray, Olivine, and Surf The Web (oddly named, but all of these are Pantone colors) colorways.

The Screen

The screen on this is curved around the left and right edges, which Motorola calls “endless edge”, making this the first G series device not to have a flat screen. It certainly makes the phone look higher-end. The display is a 6.7-inch FHD+ pOLED with a 120Hz refresh rate and 1,600-nit peak brightness.

The Hardware

The Moto G85 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 6s Gen 3, a midrange chip. The device comes with 256GB of storage, which you can get with either 8GB or 12GB. The device also has a microSD slot, in case 256GB won't be enough for you. There's a 5,000 mAh cell which you can fill up quickly with a 30W wired charging.

The Camera

You get a dual camera setup on the rear of the Motorola Moto G85. The primary camera is a 50MP unit with a Sony LYTIA 600 sensor behind it and OIS to keep your shots blur-free. The second lens is an 8MP ultrawide. Meanwhile, the front camera is a 32MP module.

Pricing And Availability

The Moto G85 is expected to launch in Europe and certain areas of Latin America, Asia, and the Middle East. It is expected to cost €349 (~$375).

In other news, Motorola has finally released a modern tracking tag, called the Moto Tag, which supports Google's Find My Device network, which is a major perk. The tag itself uses Bluetooth LE and Ultra Wideband tech for precise tracking, especially when your phone supports UWB.

The tag has a button that you can press that will help ring a connected device that you can't find, but that same button can serve as a remote shutter for your smartphone too, and it will work with any Android phone. It is also IP67-rated, so whether it is inside or outside, it can survive.
