We finally have our first real look at Samsung's next foldables. Dummy units of the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide, Galaxy Z Fold 8, and Galaxy Z Flip 8 have surfaced, courtesy of prolific tipster Sonny Dickson on X. Here's what to expect.
Galaxy Z Fold 8 series may support MagSafe accessories
The two leaked images of Samsung's foldables show three dummies from the back when closed and when opened flat. They're made from what looks like translucent plastic, possibly a rigid polycarbonate or acrylic material.
There are circular imprints on the back of each for what's likely Qi2 wireless charging coils. In the post’s caption, Dickson makes an Apple comparison, saying that “The Fold 8 Wide lines up closely with the expected size of the iPhone Fold”.
So far, rumors have it that the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide is the headliner with a wider design measuring 161.4mm wide and 123.9mm tallness when unfolded. When folded, it measures 82.2mm wide.
The cover display carries a 4.7:3 aspect ratio, while the inner foldable panel is 4:3. However, compared to the standard Fold 8, the Wide has a smaller cover screen at 5.4 inches versus 6.5 inches, uses dual cameras instead of triple, and has a thicker folded profile at 9.8mm versus 9.0mm.
When compared with Huawei’s latest Pura X Max, Huawei’s model is wider and shorter at 166.5mm, while also being thicker when both folded and unfolded at 11.2mm folded, and 5.2mm unfolded.

Meanwhile, a Weibo post from Ice Universe claims that both the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide will feature an ultra-small punch-hole cutout for their front cameras. It's supposedly smaller than anything Samsung has done before.
The trend signals that the company is working toward a “hole-less design” that may lean towards an under-display camera.
July 22 promises an unforgettable launch
As confirmed by Korea Economic TV, Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 8 series, and the Z Flip 8, may launch on July 22 at the Galaxy Unpacked event in London. It's where the company’s European headquarters is, and where they will also debut their first-ever Galaxy Glasses.
A recent update to Samsung's Nearby Device Scanning app has even added support for quick pairing with “glasses.” The changelog also hints at deeper ecosystem integration with smartphones and tablets, including battery level display directly on your connected Galaxy device, similar to how Galaxy Buds and Galaxy Watch already work.

The design resembles classic Wayfarer-style sunglasses with expected specs including a 12MP single camera. There's an LED indicator, built-in microphones and speakers, and a touch-sensitive surface for controls. They're expected to run on Google's Android XR platform, which currently powers their XR headset.
There's no onboard display, but the glasses may offer voice-based queries with real-time answers, hands-free music and call controls, and other quick actions.
We'll also see a new S Pen since the brand dropped it from the Fold 7. They removed it due to thickness and weight concerns, and now probably need it to get a competitive edge over Apple.
