You can do Weapon Advancements in Solo Leveling: Arise by collecting duplicates of them. Advancing Weapons improves their skills and increases the stats they provide Sung Jinwoo or your Hunters.

How to Advance Weapons in Solo Leveling: Arise
You can advance both Player Weapons and Hunter Weapons (i.e. increase their stars) in Solo Leveling: Arise by collecting their duplicates and spending some Gold.
As you can see from the image below, advancing a Weapon using its duplicate/s gives the Weapon a variety of additional buffs that'll help Sung Jinwoo and your Hunters perform better in combat, so you should never think twice about doing it!
Equipping a Weapon that has undergone at least one Advancement not only improves the effects of Sung Jinwoo's or your Hunters' skills and gives them stat bonuses, but it also increases the Precision of your character, as shown here:
A character's Precision influences how much damage they can do during battle, and is among Sung Jinwoo's best stats that you should invest his AP in.
TIP: Considering how hard to get SSR Weapons are, settling for Advanced SR and even R Weapons is a viable option until you get your SSR Weapon to at least 1★—just for the temporary Precision boost. This goes double for beginners and F2P players with limited access to SSR Weapons!

Dimensional Weapon Advancement
Dimensional Weapon Advancements can be done on Weapons that have reached the max Weapon Advancement Level (5★).
As you can see from the image below, Dimensional Weapon Advancements do not improve your Weapon's skill effects and Precision stat further, but they do give the Weapon Attack, Defense, and HP bonuses:
The Dimensional Weapon Advancement feature is one of the reasons why going for R Weapons for your Hunters that don't have their Exclusive Weapons yet is a great choice, especially in the early game.
Duplicates of R Weapons are much easier to get than SR and SSR Weapons' duplicates. Even on your first few weeks of playing, you'll have more than enough copies to do Dimensional Weapon Advancements on your R Weapons and get the Attack, Defense, and HP stat bonuses they provide!

NOTE: Unlike Hunters who can be equipped with R Weapons just fine, Sung Jinwoo's equipped Player Weapons should always be at least SR if you want him to perform optimally during battle. Aim to get 2 SSR Weapons to Advancement Level 1 (1★) as soon as possible for the Precision bonuses, which are crucial to unleashing Sung Jinwoo's DPS potential.
