In Solo Leveling: Arise, Sung Jinwoo and your Hunters can amplify their Skill Damage against certain types of enemies by taking advantage of the Element feature.
Scroll down and read more to learn how to improve your DPS by using elemental advantages as well as how to optimize your elemental damage!
Element Types in Solo Leveling: Arise
There are five different Element types in Solo Leveling: Arise:
- Fire
- Water
- Wind
- Dark
- Light
Below, we’ll discuss just how much damage you’ll be able to do when using advantageous or disadvantageous elements, as well as how your Weapons, Hunters, and Skill Runes affect the Element type damage you can deal.
Element Type Advantage & Disadvantage

You can easily check what’s the best Element to use for a specific battle by checking the Recommended Element, as shown in the image above.
Using the Recommended Element allows your characters to deal 150% damage with their Skill attacks against enemies that are weak against the element shown, which is a massive advantage.

On the other hand, you should also check for the Element you should avoid using by looking at the Boss Passives, which indicates what Element your enemies are strong against.
Using a Skill based on an Element type that a specific enemy is strong against only allows you to deal 50% damage to them, which is why you should always check the Elements of your Weapons and Hunters before you go boss-hunting!
TIP: Considering how diverse the enemies are in Solo Leveling: Arise when it comes to their elemental types, we highly recommend not creating a mono-element team if you’re a beginner and invest in Hunters and Weapons with different elements early on instead.
Changing Hunters, Weapons, and Skill Runes
You can further capitalize on the Elemental Advantage and Disadvantage feature by swapping out your Weapons, Hunters, and Skill Orbs before every battle.

All Hunters, for example, have a designated element that determines what type of elemental damage they can do with their Skills, as shown in the image above.
Read our Solo Leveling: Arise Tier List to see which Hunters of a certain Element type are the best, as well as the ones you should probably avoid!

Aside from your Hunters, both Player Weapons and Exclusive Hunter Weapons are also assigned an element that dictates what type of elemental damage they can inflict on your enemies.
Sung Jinwoo’s Player Weapons, more importantly, have different Element types, and swapping them out depending on which type of enemy you’re facing is one of the best ways to optimize Jinwoo’s damage for a specific battle.
TIP: Unlike Hunters who use their weapons more like a stat stick (unless it’s their Exclusive Weapon), changing Sung Jinwoo’s Weapons can also change his playstyle and elemental damage in addition to augmenting his stats, so choose his weapons wisely!

As you can see from the image above, there are also several Skill Runes that allow your Basic Skills to inflict elemental damage, making them more effective against certain enemies.
Do note, however, that this is not the case for all Basic Skills, as some Skill Runes give Basic Skills various other additional effects rather than just elemental damage.
TIP: You can increase the elemental damage done by your Skills through Artifacts—specifically by getting one that has a Substat that improves Fire, Water, Wind, Dark, or Light Damage.
