A new rumor has suggested that Google Duo might be getting a new kind of integration, starting with the Galaxy S20 launch. Apparently there have been talks between Samsung and Google to implement an ability to quickly send Google Duo video messages right inside of Samsung's SMS messaging application, putting video chatting on a whole other level.
Samsung integrates Google Duo
So how exactly would this work? Well, from what we gather, this partnership would see Google Duo implanted right inside of Samsung's messaging app. You wouldn't have to download any extra applications, and users wouldn't incur any data charges from these video messages.

The catch is that the videos will have to be short and sweet, capping at just 5 megabytes to avoid creating a huge burden on mobile networks. But that would position Duo as a more viable competitor to something like Snapchat or WhatsApp in a younger demographic, and it would have the backing of the most popular Android smartphone manufacturer on the planet.
The partnership also times up with the launch of Samsung's upcoming foldable phone. The Galaxy Bloom, Galaxy Z, or Galaxy Z Flip, whichever rumor you believe, is expected to be a clamshell folding phone, and Samsung thinks it's a device that's ripe for tons of video chatting. Putting a quick video chat service into that phone's messaging app would help push that along, too.
But the folding phone won't be the only phone to get this new feature. It will reportedly come to phones as old as the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S10, both of which are still receiving frequent software updates from Samsung. That would help keep the potential audience for this feature wide enough to not choke itself out right at the start.
