As Huawei launches its Mate 30 Pro, Samsung reverts to troll status and gloats about ties to Google 3

Huawei has just held a launch event in Munich, Germany where it unveiled its new Mate 30 Pro that boasts an almost bezel-less waterfall display, the Kirin 990 5G processor and promising a world-class camera experience. But, as good as the Mate 30 Pro, and its siblings appear on the hardware front, Google apps and services are nowhere to be seen, a fact that Samsung, a renowned troll, was all too happy to point out.

According to a tip received by Android Central, Samsung sent an email in Spanish to its customers in Latin America emphasizing its relationship to Google and the Galaxy Note 10's ability to access Google apps.

“Disfruta de actualizaciones, apps y servicios Google,”

Samsung

The comment translates to “Enjoy updates, apps, and Google services”, which is a rather snide example of Samsung poking fun at its rival. Samsung is a known troll with past exploits of teasing queuing Google over the quality of the Pixel 2 XL's display previously. As a coincidence, the included Galaxy Note 10 image showed a home screen displaying icons for Google apps such as Search, YouTube, Chrome, Gmail, Photos, Maps, Drive, and the Play Store, just to ram the message home.

Sent in the middle of Huawei's Mate 30 Pro launch event, the email goes on to state that anyone buying the Galaxy Note 10 will enjoy four months of YouTube Premium gratis.

While Huawei navigates the rocky waters of the trade war between the US and China, Samsung is set to reap the benefits of its rival's uncertainty. One thing we can be certain of is the likelihood of seeing more thinly veiled barbs of this nature from Samsung in the coming months.
