A few weeks back, we reported that Qualcomm would be shipping their new 1.5GHz Snapdragon chip sometime around the end of Q4, 2010, and early Q1, 2011. Well, so did CEO Paul Jacobs, who repeated this information while on stage at his companies IQ 2010 event.
Well, it turns out this was the wrong information. Apparently, he was supposed to say that the 1.2GHz Snapdragon would begin shipping in Q1, 2011, whereas the 1.5GHz may not land until the end of next year.
The mistake caused Qualcomm shares to go for a bit of a ride, and will certainly land someone in some hot water. We'll stay on the lookout for an official release date, but until then, we'll just have to start getting excited about the 1.2 GHz Snapdragon.
