The first Googlebook from Lenovo is here, and it's aiming squarely at premium territory with a 15.3-inch 2.8K OLED display, a Series 3 Intel Core Ultra 5 chip, and a $1,099.99 starting price. The Googlebook 15 goes on sale October 4, and Lenovo is launching a Gemini-focused AI Mouse alongside it.
What's new
The Googlebook 15 is Lenovo's entry into Google's new Googlebook lineup, running Googlebook OS on an Intel Core Ultra 5 325. Lenovo says the platform delivers up to 47 TOPS for on-device AI, paired with 16GB or 32GB of LPDDR5x memory and 256GB or 512GB of storage.
It's also light for its size. At 2.84 pounds, Lenovo says it's the lightest 15-inch laptop in its entire portfolio.
Why it matters
A lot of the Googlebook pitch lives in the software, and this laptop gets all of it. Magic Pointer lets you wiggle the cursor over content to bring up Gemini actions, such as combining two images into a poster or dropping a date straight into your calendar.
Then there's Rambler, a dictation feature that strips out filler words and adds formatting as you speak, even if you switch languages mid-sentence. Add Android phone continuity for accessing apps and files from your phone, and you can see why Google wants these on desks rather than in classrooms.
Display and audio
The 15.3-inch OLED touchscreen runs at 2880 x 1800 with a 120Hz refresh rate, 100% DCI-P3 color coverage, and 500 nits of brightness. It sits in a 16:10 panel with thin bezels, which should suit spreadsheets and split-screen work.
Audio comes from four speakers with Dolby Atmos. Lenovo pitches them at music, movies, and video calls alike.
Design and battery
The metal chassis comes in Cloud Grey with an anti-fingerprint coating and measures 0.63 inches thick. A Glowbar on the lid shows battery and charging status even when the laptop is closed.
Inside is a 70Wh battery rated for up to 12.5 hours of video playback. Sign-in is handled by a fingerprint reader or facial authentication, and the 5MP webcam has a physical privacy shutter.
Ports and connectivity
You get two Thunderbolt 4 ports, one on each side, which makes charging from either side of the desk easy. They're joined by a USB-A 3.2 port, HDMI 2.0, and a headphone jack.
Wireless covers Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6.0. There's also a large 150 x 95mm haptic touchpad and a backlit keyboard.
The Lenovo AI Mouse
Lenovo's AI Mouse for Googlebook puts a dedicated Gemini button on top. A quick press opens the Gemini chatbox, and holding it down launches Gemini voice, with Magic Pointer support built in as well.
It uses a PAW3311 sensor rated up to 12,000 DPI, connects over USB-C or dual Bluetooth with Fast Pair, and weighs around 100g. Battery life is quoted at up to 40 hours with the lightbar on and 150 hours with it off, and the lightbar can sync with the Googlebook itself.
Pricing and availability
The Googlebook 15 goes on sale October 4, starting at $1,099.99. Buyers also get 12 months of Google AI Pro, which includes expanded Gemini features, 5TB of cloud storage, and access to apps like Adobe Photoshop, Premiere, and CapCut.
That subscription normally costs $19.99 a month, so the bundle is worth roughly $240. Lenovo hasn't announced pricing or availability for the AI Mouse yet.
Takeaway
On paper, Lenovo has put together one of the more compelling Googlebooks so far, with a gorgeous display, proper Thunderbolt connectivity, and a weight that undercuts plenty of 15-inch rivals. At $1,099.99, it's firmly premium pricing, and it'll be interesting to see how that 12.5-hour battery figure holds up away from video playback. Sadly, we're still waiting on a price for the mouse, but we can't wait to get both on the desk for review.
