A promise Google made back in May just landed. Adobe Premiere mobile, the video editor that's spent the last year as an iPhone exclusive, is now available on Android, and it's free. The catch is in the fine print. You'll need Android 13 and at least 5GB of RAM to run it, which rules out a lot of budget and mid-range phones still running older software.

Premiere mobile launched on iPhone last year and built a following doing quick edits for vlogs, tutorials, and social clips. Adobe says the Android version carries over the same core toolset, Enhance Audio for one-tap noise cleanup, frame-accurate trimming, and a multi-track timeline for layering video, music, text, and effects.
It also brings Adobe's Firefly generative AI tools along for the ride, including Generative Fill, Image-to-Video, and Generate Sound Effects. Editing and exporting both go up to 4K, and Adobe says there's no forced login and no upgrade prompts standing between you and your export.
Why it matters
TalkAndroid flagged this back in May, when Google mentioned Adobe Premiere was coming to Android as part of its Android 17 creator push. That “soon” just became now, and it puts a genuinely capable free editor next to CapCut and InShot rather than leaving Android's creator crowd stuck choosing between mobile-first apps and hauling footage over to a desktop.
The RAM requirement matters just as much as the feature list. A lot of Android phones sold in the last two or three years don't clear 5GB, so this isn't really a launch for every Android user, it's a launch for people who already own something reasonably current.

On paper, this is one of the more legitimate free video editors Android has gotten in a while, not a stripped-down teaser version of something better on iPhone. Adobe says the free tier includes the full editing essentials, with paid upgrades reserved for extra generative credits and storage rather than gatekeeping basic editing.
It'll be worth seeing how Enhance Audio and the Firefly tools actually hold up once real footage and real background noise get thrown at them, since all of this comes from Adobe's own announcement for now. If your phone clears the RAM bar, this is worth downloading today. If it doesn't, that's one more reason to think about your next upgrade.
