Samsung's RAM and storage configurations for the entire Galaxy S27 series have leaked. Although we're months away from the expected January or February 2027 launch, there's plenty of frustration already, since Samsung still won't give buyers the memory they're paying for.
Unfortunately, it's yet another leak confirming that nothing's really changed. The company is retaining the same memory configurations as the S26 due to cost pressures, even as prices are expected to rise.
Don't get too excited for the upcoming launch
Korean leaker Lanzuk posted the configurations for the upcoming Galaxy S27 series on the Naver website. According to the leaker, the information was compiled from “Weibo and domestic Korean industry sources.”
From the looks of it, the Galaxy S27 and S27 Plus both max out their memory at 12GB RAM with 256GB or 512GB storage. Unfortunately, there's no 1TB option and no 16GB option.
The Galaxy S27 Pro is expected to come with three storage options: 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB. However, it will remain locked at 12GB RAM across all of them.
The Galaxy S27 Ultra seems to be the only model that breaks out of 12GB, but only on its top configuration. The 256GB and 512GB variants receive 12GB RAM, while the 1TB option reaches 16GB.
If it's any consolation, the Ultra and Pro models may be equipped with LPDDR6 RAM or UFS 5.1 storage. Both are an upgrade from the LPDDR5X and UFS 4.0 in the S26.
LPDDR6 roughly doubles peak bandwidth and should mean better overall performance. UFS 5.1 also brings faster read and write speeds for quicker file transfers and snappier system responsiveness overall.
Samsung itself hasn't confirmed whether LPDDR6 and UFS 5.1 will make it into the final product, but we should hope so. Early price leaks from SammyGuru already point to the S27 Ultra reaching up to a $200 increase over the S26 Ultra's $1,300 price tag.
There may be a battery boost
Samsung may not be winning on RAM this year, but it may have finally heard the battery complaints that have followed the Galaxy S series for years. Cue the drumroll.
China's 3C certification body has certified the Galaxy S27 Pro and S27 Ultra for sale and revealed both battery capacities in the process. The S27 Ultra carries a rated 5,534 mAh battery, which Samsung will likely advertise as 5,700 mAh. It's a 700 mAh increase over the S26 Ultra's capacity.
The S27 Pro is rated 5,087 mAh and expected to be marketed as approximately 5,200 mAh. It's interesting because the S27 Pro is rumored to be a smaller, pocketable phone than the S27 Ultra. But specific dimensions haven't been confirmed yet.
Frankly, this isn't the breakthrough upgrade fans expected. Chinese rivals have been pulling further ahead, and the OnePlus 16 is a prime example. It's coming with a 9,000 mAh battery using silicon-carbon cell technology developed with CATL.
It's nearly 3,300 mAh more than what the S27 Ultra is expected to offer, despite both phones targeting the same premium buyer.
