These days, people whose primary form of entertainment is reading seem to be the best off. If you enjoy watching TV shows and movies, you have to contend with several streaming services, many of which have exclusives that force you to subscribe if you want to watch them.
You like Ted Lasso and Stranger Things? Sorry, you'll need to get Apple TV+ and Netflix respectively if you want to watch those. However, if you want precisely those two services, with Peacock thrown in the mix, then Comcast has something for you this month.
Comcast Is Introducing A New StreamSaver Bundle With Peacock, Apple TV+, and Netflix
Comcast is one of the biggest TV internet, TV, and mobile providers in the United States. As one of the biggest cable companies in the world, it was no surprise when the company jumped into the streaming arena with Peacock. However, as big as Comcast is, that pool is a difficult one to dominate in.
It seems like Comcast might have come up with a new tactic to improve its position in the market or to improve Comcast subscriber numbers, and that's going to be through a bundle that the company calls StreamSaver. What this plans to do is to bundle Peacock with Netflix and Apple TV+ into a single subscription package. Considering Netflix is the de-facto streaming service by way of popularity, it's a great addition, and Apple TV+ is also doing well in the market with solid exclusives like Slow Horses, Severance, and Ted Lasso.
This is an interesting choice, as on a normal day, Peacock, Netflix, and Apple TV+ are all competitors and they don't necessarily do each other favors by being bundled (though it certainly helps out the consumer). The timing is also interesting, as it was just a few days ago that I reported on a combined bundle of Disney+, Hulu, and Max, which are once again, all competitors (though Disney+ and Hulu are now basically housed under the same roof). Might this be a new trend?
Either way, StreamSaver is bound to come at a price lower than the combined price of the three services (otherwise there'd be little incentive). A Comcast exec has also stated that it is going to come at a “vastly reduced” price. Currently, getting all of these would set you back about $23, so we can expect Comcast to go sub-$20.
It'll Come At Some Point This Year, But You Have To Be On Comcast
We don't know exactly when this StreamSaver bundle is going to be available to consumers beyond the fact that it is expected “later this month”. However, to take advantage of such a sweet deal, there's a pretty obvious catch to the whole thing.
Yep, you're going to need to be a Comcast subscriber if you want to have access to this bundle. To be honest, it makes sense, because at the end of the day, Comcast is trying to keep subscribers and bring more under its roof, and this might be a good way to do it if you can get three streaming services in one for a much lower price.
