Samsung brought a few updates to the camera hardware for the Galaxy S24 series, and with better specs on paper, the camera experience should be better than the previous generation. For the most part, it is, but there are some rough edges in places.
The good thing is that an official Samsung forum moderator stated that camera optimization is ongoing and you can expect to see some bug fixes and tweaks in some of the upcoming software updates for these devices.
Samsung Will Keep Improving The Cameras For The S24 Series
Cameras are the most heavily scrutinized aspect of the smartphone experience these days, and this proves true for the Galaxy S24 devices. With fantastic specifications on paper, it's expected that you'll get an unproblematic photo-taking experience.
For the most part, you do, but there are a few issues seen when taking videos and photos using a Samsung Galaxy S24 smartphone. For instance, noise and banding in low light, overexposure in daytime, and occasional low dynamic range situations.
The good thing is, as reported by SamMobile, Samsung is planning to bring fixes for the most common problems being faced by users. They're continually collecting feedback and using that to make tweaks to the camera software. As to when these updates will come, that much is anyone's guess.

It was also made clear that Samsung aimed for a more natural color science for the S24 phones, which means they might be pulling away from the vivid hues they used to be known for.
What Improvements Does The S24 Bring In The Camera Department
Compared to the previous generation, the S24 lineup brings very few changes to the camera hardware, though the S24 Ultra brings notable modifications.
The Samsung Galaxy S24 and S24+ have identical camera setups, and these are just slightly different from what their predecessors carried. The only distinction is a slightly different focal length on the telephoto lens. With the S24 Ultra and the S23 Ultra, things are a bit more different. The 3x telephoto lens, just like the smaller models, changes to a 67 mm focal length instead of 70 mm.
However, the major difference is in the second telephoto camera on the Ultra models. It goes from a 10 MP 10x lens to a 50 MP 5x lens, and for the most part, the 10x performance is still excellent thanks to the higher resolution. You also get the ability to shoot 4K at 120fps, while the S23 Ultra maxes out at 60fps.
How Galaxy AI Has Enhanced Photo Editing
Galaxy AI is bringing a lot to the table with the S24 lineup, but one of my favorite places where it makes its mark known is photo editing. You can get a lot done right on your smartphone without needing to export to your computer.
Thanks to generative AI, you can now straighten a crooked picture, and instead of losing part of the image as you normally would, AI can fill in the new edges that are created. You can also pick a subject in a photograph and shift them around slightly or shift them around a lot. Either way, AI will fill in the background where they used to be.
Galaxy AI can also help you remove reflections and shadows with a tap of a button. It's pretty impressive, and hopefully, we'll be able to enjoy these features free of charge for as long as possible.
