Aqara is rounding out its smart home lineup with a proper lighting push at IFA Berlin, five new indoor and outdoor products built to react to a room rather than just switch on and off, plus a new platform for sharing automation ideas.
What's new
The lineup spans a Floor Lamp T1, LED Downlight T2, LED Strip T2, Outdoor String Lights H1, and Permanent Outdoor Lights H1. The Floor Lamp T1 stands 1,420mm tall with 18 individually controllable zones driven by a 16-bit, 5-channel chip, a tunable white range from 2,000K to 9,000K, and up to 1,000 lumens. The Downlight T2 is built for low-ceiling retrofits, available in an RGB CCT version with 16 million colors or a simpler CCT-only version up to 1,200 lumens, both with power-off memory so lights return to their last state after an outage.
The LED Strip T2 packs 108 LEDs per meter with 18 independently controllable zones every 3 meters, and can build a coordinated lighting scene from a plain-language description typed into the Aqara Home app. Outdoors, the String Lights H1 and Permanent Outdoor Lights H1 both cover a 2,000K to 9,000K range and can trigger automatically off other Aqara devices, the Permanent lights in particular are aimed at replacing the seasonal chore of hanging and removing holiday lighting, installed once and controlled year-round.
Every product in the range supports Thread and Zigbee, is Matter-enabled, and works across Apple Home, Home Assistant, Amazon Alexa, Google Home, SmartThings, and Homey, so none of it locks a buyer into Aqara's own app for basic control. Alongside the hardware, Aqara is launching Aqara Builder, a community platform for smart home enthusiasts, developers, and installers to share real automation projects and get AI-assisted suggestions for their own setups.
Why it matters
Lighting has been one of the more fragmented corners of the smart home, with different brands supporting different standards. Aqara betting on Thread, Zigbee, and Matter across the entire range, paired with its existing sensors and switches, makes the case that these lights are meant to react to a household's actual patterns rather than sit as one more app icon to tap.
