Poco is a smartphone company that has been around for a while now, taking up residence as Xiaomi's cost-effective sub-brand and producing phones like the X6 series launched earlier today. Consisting of the vanilla X6 and the X6 Pro, the series packs premium features such as 120Hz OLED displays with 1.5K resolution and 67W fast charging, and you'll even find IP54 certification.
The Same

Both the X6 and X6 Pro feature 6.67-inch AMOLED displays with 1.5K resolution, up to 120Hz refresh rates, and 2160Hz touch sampling. Weirdly, according to the press release, the vanilla X6 display is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus, while the X6 Pro makes do with Gorilla Glass 5 protection. Both handsets feature an in-display fingerprint sensor,
You'll find 67W fast charging on both handsets, with the X6 once again being better off in battery capacity with 5,100mAh and the X6 Pro having 5,000mAh. It's a minor difference for sure, but strange nonetheless. Finally, both models have a 67W charger included in the box, which is a nice touch.
A 64MP main camera with OIS, which is accompanied by an 8MP ultra-wide lens, a 2MP macro camera, and a 16MP front-facing camera are present on both phones. Finally, Xiaomi's new HyperOS software is on both handsets out of the box.
But Different

Under the hood of the Poco X6 is Qualcomm's Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 processor, backed up with 8/12GB LPDDR4X RAM and a choice of 256/512GB UFS 2.2 storage. The X6 Pro, on the other hand, is powered by MediaTek's Dimensity 8300-Ultra with 8/12GB of LPDDR5X memory and 256/512GB of the speedier UFS 4.0 storage built-in.
Besides more power and on-device generative AI support, the X6 Pro also gains Bluetooth 5.4 and WiFi 6 connectivity over its sibling. The vanilla X6 does offer a legacy 3.5mm audio jack, so if wired headphones are your jam, perhaps this will sway your decision.
Design
This is where the X6 Pro shines, or doesn't rather, thanks to its glorious yellow vegan leather finish on its rear panel. I'm a sucker for vegan leather which eschews fingerprint smudges and generally helps keep the phone in tip-top condition. The X6, on the other hand, has a more traditional shiny glass back panel, which, as you can probably guess, is something of a fingerprint magnet.
As affordable handsets, you won't be surprised to learn that the Poco X6 series uses a plastic frame instead of aluminum, which is found on more expensive phones.
Price and Availability
Starting from just $249, the Poco X6 will be sold in Black, White, and Blue colorways in 8/256GB, 12/256GB, and 12/512GB configurations. The Poco X6 Pro costs a little more, with a base price of $299 for the 8/256GB option and $369 for the 12/512GB variant, both of which are available in Black, Yellow, and Grey colorways.
What are your thoughts on the new Poco X6 series, which offers a steady mix of mid-range hardware at reasonable prices? We've got the Poco X6 Pro in for testing, so keep it locked to TalkAndroid over the coming weeks for our review.
