Samsung’s latest phone in the Galaxy S series, the Samsung Galaxy S24, has been official since January 17, 2024, and despite the phone only being out for a few months, fans are already eagerly anticipating what the next installment in the Samsung Galaxy S series will bring.
The Samsung Galaxy S25 might be a way off, but some good old-fashioned speculation can give an estimated date for when the phone might launch. There is also some leaked hardware-related information that might get tech-savvy individuals even more hyped for the S25 series' launch.
Samsung Galaxy S25 Release Date
There is currently no official release date for the Samsung Galaxy S25. However, the popularity of this phone series strongly suggests that the release of the Samsung Galaxy S25 is a matter of when and not a matter of if.
While Samsung hasn’t given any information regarding the Samsung Galaxy S25’s release date, the launch dates of previous entries in the Galaxy S series might give an idea of when the S25 will launch, which I'll bet is sometime in January 2025 or mid-February at the very latest.
Previous Samsung Galaxy S Release Dates
Below is a table showcasing the five most recent phones in the Galaxy S series along with their launch dates.
| Phone | Release Date |
|---|---|
| Galaxy S20 | March 6, 2020 |
| Galaxy S21 | January 29, 2021 |
| Galaxy S22 | February 25, 2022 |
| Galaxy S23 | February 17, 2023 |
| Galaxy S24 | January 17, 2024 |
In addition to these, the S25 is rumored to have a launch date of early 2025. Although some self-proclaimed insiders are claiming that the S25 might launch near the end of 2024, it’s much more likely for it to have a Q1 2025 release date.
Not only would a 2025 release date continue Samsung’s trend of releasing one phone every year, but it would also ensure that the S25 comes out in 2025, similar to how the S23 came out in 2023 and so on.
Samsung Galaxy S25 Design Rumors

The design of the Samsung Galaxy S25 will change, but not drastically, if the rumors are to be believed. We're likely still going to get a similar design with flat screens and flat frames, but in the case of the S25 Ultra, a rumor suggests the camera lenses are going to get squircle-d like on the Watch 7 Ultra. I'd reckon that this change might extend to the other devices in the family, but generally, there aren't many leaks on the smaller phones yet.
Samsung Galaxy S25 AI Leaks
We live in the era of AI, so the anticipation for the Galaxy S25 wouldn't be complete without talk of how its AI scene might change. Part of what we know is that it looks like the Samsung Galaxy S25 series will come with Google's Gemini Nano 2 model built-in, which is expected to be faster and smarter than the current model.
The advantage of Gemini Nano is that it is an AI model that is lightweight enough to operate on-device, which means you won't get the annoying delay that most AI models give when they have to connect to the cloud to complete their queries.
Samsung Galaxy S25 Camera Leaks
Because of how much time is left for the Samsung Galaxy S25 to even be announced, there’s very little information on the phone. However, we have been getting some trickles of juicy info on the device as the months roll by, and now, we know a bit more about the camera setup.
The Galaxy S24 Ultra has a 200MP main camera, a 50MP 5x telephoto, a 10MP 3x telephoto, and a 12MP ultrawide. Those last two cameras don't really give enough of that Ultra vibe and it looks like both of those are going to be upgraded to 50MP sensors on the Ultra model 2025, according to a rumor. This would mean no rear camera on the S25 Ultra would have less than a 50MP resolution. That's more like it.
Upgrading the ultrawide to 50MP would allow Samsung to enable 8K recording, even with digital stabilization. There’s also the potential for Samsung to use pixel-binning thanks to this upgrade. There's no word on the camera situation for the other S25 models though.
Samsung Galaxy S25 Performance Leaks
UFS 4.0 storage is my expectation from any flagship that wants to call itself the best of the best. It means that your read-write speeds are faster, so loading games and opening apps will be a lot faster on this kind of storage.
UFS 5.0 isn't anywhere in the immediate future (you're going to have to wait until 2027), but UFS 4.0 4-Lane CS (perhaps it might be called UFS 4.1, for simplicity's sake) seems to be the next step up, and the Galaxy S25 devices are rumored to be the devices to debut the storage technology. This should boost the maximum speed from 4GB/s to 8GB/s, which is definitely bound to be very noticeable in daily use.
It should also be no surprise that the Samsung Galaxy S25 devices are expected to come with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 as the beating heart of the devices, though there were rumors regarding Samsung's Exynos 2500 being the sole option in 2025. For the most part, that seems to have been dispelled. The most likely scenario is the Snapdragon exclusively for the Ultra model and a split between the Exynos and the Snapdragon for the other models.
Samsung Galaxy S25 Battery And Charging Leaks
The whispers regarding the battery capacity on the Samsung Galaxy S25 devices are a bit confusing. For one part, it seems that the battery capacity of the S25 Ultra will remain at 5,000 mAh but Samsung will aim to provide 10% better battery life through the magical power of AI.
Considering the talk that Samsung is going to use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4, which has been rumored to be a major battery hog, that might not be enough. Another rumor claims the battery could be anywhere from 5,000 to 5,500 mAh, paired with 65W fast charging. I'll only believe that last part when I see it.
Conclusion
This concludes everything we currently know about the Samsung Galaxy S25 and its launch date. As the phone’s launch date edges closer, we’re certain that more information will be given to fans, whether it be through official sources, or thanks to leaks. After all, much information about the S24 was leaked even before its official unpacked event.
