It's a difficult choice when it comes to deciding when your children are ready for their first smartphone and perhaps even more difficult when it comes to keeping tabs on their usage. Apps such as MMGuardian which launched back in 2013 help parents monitor their children's phones, but this year they are stepping things up thanks to a partnership with Samsung which has yielded a trio of smartphones launching during CES 2024.
What Is The MMGuardian Phone?
Starting from $119 for the A03S and $229 for the A14, the MMGuardian phones are unlocked and able to be used on all major US carriers. Airtime plans are an additional cost, as is the MMGuardian Service which costs an additional $120 annually.

Basically, the phones are a combination of Samsung's hardware and MMGuardian technology aimed at giving parents peace of mind when it comes to their children's app, browsing, and messaging habits. Thanks to the software being baked in to the smartphone at the manufacturing point, there are additional anti-tampering measures which prevent the phone being switched to safe mode or even factory reset in an effort to remove the software.
Carrying model numbers A14, A15, and A03S, the MMGuardian Phones are for all intents and purposes, repurposed Galaxy A14, A15, and A03 handsets. But that's not a bad thing because it means that they are based on solid hardware from a household brand.
How Does MMGuardian Software Keep Your Child Safe?
The software allows you to control internet access as well as restricting app installations to what it appropriate to the child's age. As your child matures, you can adjust the level of monitoring performed by the parental control software, giving you the flexibility you need.
“…inappropriate selfies often correlate with severe risks such as sexting, sextortion, child predation, cyberbullying, and even child suicide. With MMGuardian, an on-device AI deep learning model rapidly detects inappropriate selfies, promptly alerting both parents and children to potential risks. We are the only product that offers this feature”
