Amid the Pixel Fold leaks comes news that the current dominator of the foldable segment, Samsung, may be gearing up to launch its next range of Galaxy Z Fold and Flip smartphones during the last week of July.

This would be the first time that the Unpacked event, which used to be when the Galaxy Note was announced, will be as early as late July. And, besides launching the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Galaxy Z Fold 5 foldables, Samsung may also unveil the new Galaxy Tab S9 series of tablets and a new set of Galaxy Buds at the same event. The report comes courtesy of SamMobile.

If accurate, holding the foldable launch a little earlier than usual makes sense because with Oppo's Find N2 Flip performing well in Europe, the Pixel Fold probably being announced during Google I/O next month and at least one Motorola Razr 2023 on the horizon, the foldable segment is heating up.

It seems that 2023 really is the year of the foldable smartphone.
