Pixel Fold

The drip feed of leaks and rumors regarding Google's on and off and on again Pixel Fold is on the increase – both in terms of frequency and accuracy. This latest leak reveals much of what we can expect to see from Google's debut foldable handset including the presence of 2022's Tensor G2 processor, 120Hz OLED displays front and back, plus the continuation of the search giant's gaslighting initiative where it insists that 23W charging is actually speedy.

Thanks to both Jon Prosser (above) and series leaker Yogesh Brar (via Twitter) whose latest leaks leave little to the imagination ahead of the Pixel Fold's possible debut during Google I/O on May 10.

Jon Prosser of FrontPageTech states that the Pixel Fold 2 will indeed use a similar aspect ratio to what we've seen on the excellent Oppo Find N2, which is squarish rather than rectangular. The Pixel Fold will, unfortunately, be powered by the same Tensor G2 chipset as seen in the Pixel 7 series. I say unfortunately because Qualcomm hit it out of the park with its Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and the Tensor G2 design is still based on one of Samsung's old Exynos designs.

Prosser also states that pre-orders for the Pixel Fold will start on May 10th via the Google Store before being available to pre-order via third-party retailers and carriers. It's said that Google's foldable will go on general sale on June 27th with prices starting from $1,799 for the 256GB variant. Pre-orders for the Pixel Fold may also include a free Pixel Watch.

Yogesh Brar's tweet goes into more detail in terms of specifications, revealing that the Pixel Fold will sport a 4,500mAh battery with 23W charging which will probably take around 90 minutes to deliver a full charge. It's unknown whether the Pixel Fold will support wireless charging at this time. It's also said that the cover display will feature an HD+ resolution, which is a shame if true.

Other reported specifications include the following:

  • Inner Display: 7.6-inch QXGA+ AMOLED, 120Hz
  • Outer Display: 5.8-inch HD+ AMOLED, 120Hz
  • Processor: Tensor G2 SoC
  • Memory: 12GB RAM
  • Storage: 256/512GB
  • Rear Cam: 48MP (OIS) + 10.8MP (UW) + 10.8MP (Tele)
  • Inner Cam: 8MP
  • Outer Cam: 9.5MP
  • Software: Android 13
  • Battery: 4,500mAh battery
  • Charging Speed: 23W

We'll update this post as and when further details become available in the lead-up to Google I/O on May 10.
