Petal Search

Petal Search is Huawei's method of trying to bypass the US ban on accessing the Google Play Store, curating apps from a variety of third-party app stores so that P40 Pro users can find their favorite apps more easily. Now the Play Store alternative is gaining the option of showing APKMirror as a source for apps and the ability to install split APKs.

While the ability to download and install split APKs is definitely a useful feature that will both aid speedier updates and save on data usage, the addition of the trusted APKMirror as a source for APKs is the bigger attraction. With many users not entirely trusting of downloading apps from third-party stores such as APKPure and Aptoide, the inclusion of APKMirror will provide a much-needed boost in trust and security to Huawei's Petal Search.

While the addition of APKMirror doesn't magically turn Huawei's AppGallery storefront into the Play Store, it does add extra security and credence to the results that Petal Search pulls up when searching for an app. You'll need to update the Petal Search app to v10.1.2.301 to take advantage of the split APK function.
