The Fitbit Charge 4 has leaked ahead of an official announcement, although you'd be forgiven for thinking it's almost identical to the Fitbit Charge 3.
There are some new features under the hood, but this looks like the same old Fitbit you either love or hate. No Google influence on the hardware just yet.
Fitbit Charge 4: incremental improvements
There are some worthwhile upgrades here, so don't think this is going to be a boring device. While it sports the same design, the Fitbit Charge 4 has a built-in GPS tracker, and it's beefing up fitness capabilities on the watch. Users will be able to track how long they spend in “Pulse Zones,” which are the most active portions of an exercise routine. You'll also be able to track your runs and routes without needing a phone on your person.
The default models look like they'll be picking up NFC as well, which should enable Fitbit Pay on non-special edition variants of the tracker. It should also be able to control Spotify on a connected smartwatch, which is another feature that was previously exclusive to just the Versa line of watches. That's probably better news for Spotify than it is for Fitbit.
Otherwise, you're still getting all the same fitness tracking and monitoring that's been offered on past watches. We're anticipating launch prices of around $149 and $169 for the base model and special edition models, although the actual date is still a mystery.
