Lights out dark mode comes to Twitter on Android 4

Twitter rolled out dark mode on their app a while back, but they also had an iOS exclusive “lights out” mode that turned the grays into real blacks. You would think that would've come to Android first since iPhones have only recently started even using OLED displays, but here we are.

Anyway, that discrepancy is finally over. Twitter has announced that the ultra dark mode is now available for Android users, and it's nestled away where the normal dark mode toggle is. Simply turn on dark mode, then change from “dim” to “lights out” to really take advantage of that power-saving OLED screen on your phone.

Personally I'm a much bigger fan of the dark blue dark mode that Twitter uses, but at least you'll have options. The rollout will likely take a few weeks before it's available to everyone, so keep an eye out for it on your app.
