Google continues to update their mostly unused Play Games app and the latest revamp sports a more useful layout that lacks any pizaz of the previous design.
Very few people still use game hubs like Google Play Games, but that hasn't stopped Google from keeping theirs up to date over the last year with the rollout of Material Design 2.0, including a dark theme, to the app.
Now rolling out a new update, Google has focused on making the UI more useful and usable with a move away from the huge, screen-filling and space-wasting carousels and jigsaws of the past to far more useful yet far less interesting lists:

Other than the style tweaks there are also alterations to the layout of menus with the default ‘Home' tab now listing games both installed and not to peak interest, while ‘Library' now has its own main tab instead of being a subsection, though ‘Hub' and ‘Profile' remain essentially unchanged.
The user who discovered the update had received a 2019.97.11661 update yesterday, and I'd presume it will roll out publicly very soon – if you even care.
