It seems like Google finally sees the Play Store a true one-stop. It has been the company's app marketplace for more than 14 years, since it replaced Android Market in March 2012. Recently, leaks revealed that it has added a Shop devices option.
You'll soon be able to browse and buy Pixel phones, watches, and earbuds without ever leaving the app. Some users are already seeing Samsung's Galaxy S26 series listed there. Here's everything we know so far.
The Play Store now doubles as a Pixel shop
Telegram user catat2am tipped Android Authority about the new Shop devices entry in the Play Store’s account menu, which opens when you tap your profile picture in the upper right corner.
The option sits between Play Labs and Library. Tapping it opens a page titled Devices from the Google Store, and each product is marked Now available. The tipster’s page listed the Galaxy S26 and Galaxy S26 Ultra at the top.
On its own phones, Android Authority saw only Google hardware, including the Pixel 10a, Pixel 11 Pro Fold, Pixel Watch 5, and Pixel Buds Pro 2. The prices were in Indian rupees, with the Pixel 10a from ₹55,999 (≈ $589) and the Pixel 11 Pro Fold from ₹186,999 (≈ $1,968).
The feature may already be live in India, though Google hasn’t said where it’s rolling out. However, it has confirmed the feature on its support page:
You can now discover and shop for hardware devices, such as Pixel or Samsung smartphones listed for sale on Google Store, on Google Play. When you buy hardware listed on Google Store that’s featured on Google Play, your purchase is processed and managed on the Google Store.
Google.
The page says Google Play acts only as the entry point. So, payment, delivery, invoicing, and customer support all go through the Google Store. You can browse a device’s page without leaving the Play Store, and you'll check order status under Order History on the Google Store website.
There are a few strings attached
The new Shop devices menu puts Google’s hardware one tap away. After all, the Play Store comes preinstalled on most Android phones, and people open it constantly to download and update apps.
Interestingly, 9to5Google reported in July that a Galaxy Watch 8 carousel in the US Play Store used the Google Store checkout. The checkout kept the buyer’s saved address and payment details, along with Google Store credit and financing. The watch itself carried a (Play) label, yet had no Google Store listing.
Also, the details of the new section are less clear. Although Google’s support page lists Samsung phones as available, the Google Store doesn’t sell them. Android Authority saw no discounts or offers in the Shop devices section, and no other brands beyond these two.
It's possible the company is running the Samsung listings for some users or regions first, or it may have created them a broader plan than what is live. We can only wait to find out more in the coming days.
