In a turnaround on the USA's ongoing Huawei ban the company has been restored to Google's Android Q Beta program after the companies' relationship was severed two weeks ago.
Things have been looking pretty grim for Huawei's global smartphone business after the company's working relationship with Android's owner Google broke down a couple weeks ago, following which the Chinese mega-corporation and their 2018 flagship Mate 20 Pro was removed from the Android Q Beta program.
In accordance with the American ban, and as other countries began implicitly following it also, Huawei has also been barred from various other partnerships and groups – though there was an initial ray of hope when they were reinstated in the SD association.
Well, the latest twist in the developing story is in and it appears that Google and Huawei have figured out some workaround as the Mate 20 Pro is now relisted in the Android Q Beta program site.
Even if Huawei has figured out a workaround with Google to maintain usage of Android, the repercussions of the sudden ban are irreparable; Huawei and China will never again let themselves depend on the US nor any other nation and it's highly likely we'll soon see them entirely replace any Android they can access with their upcoming in-house ‘Ark OS' anyway.
What's worse is that when that Ark OS software is ready, there's a high likelihood that China will mandate its use across the nation's tech industry, effectively segregating China's tech sector from the rest of the world's; no more cheap Chinese beasts.
Clearly, we'll need to keep watching to see where the Huawei ban story goes from here though, so stay tuned to Talk Android!
