BlackBerry has announced a refresh of their nearly year-old Key2 device, bringing a flashy new paint job and upgraded specs to an already pretty good smartphone. It really stands out with a striking red paint job and redesigned aesthetic, and if you needed just a little more storage out of the regular Key2, this looks like a great choice.
The other hardware of the device is pretty much the same, including a 4.5-inch screen, Snapdragon 660, and 6GB of RAM. Some software changes are happening, but overall it's really just a 128GB variant of the Key2 with a cool color. It's also launching with Android 8.1 Oreo, which is more than a little disappointing.
Our review found the device to be a worthy successor to the original BlackBerry KeyOne, and while it's definitely not a phone for everyone, if you need that particular form factor and BlackBerry's stellar security, you'd be hard pressed to find anything else that does it better in the current market.
TCL will still be responsible for handling production, and they haven't announced a release date just yet. We do know that it will run about $749 when it does eventually hit the market.
