At MWC 2019 in Barcelona, Lenovo announced they are jumping into the headphone market, joining a long list of companies that produce headphones. The company will be marketing them under their own brand name with two different models matching up with their laptop device lines.
The two models will correspond to their ThinkPad X1 laptops and their line of Yoga laptops. Besides the different model names, Lenovo is producing them in two different colors to help distinguish them with the Yoga line getting a lighter finish to match the typical sliver finish of the laptops while the ThinkPad X1 version gets a dark finish.
Outside of the cosmetic differences for marketing purposes, the headphones are the same with both getting active noise-cancelling (ANC) technology, Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity, and USB-C compatible charging. According to Lenovo the devices are designed to be optimized for conference calls, notably those made using the Skype service. So audiophiles may not find them up to par with some of the more entertainment oriented choices on the market.
The headphones can be used with any device that supports the Bluetooth 5.0 standard for the connection. The Yoga branded model is slated to retail for $170 and the ThinkPad X1 version will come in at $150. Both models are scheduled to hit shelves in July.
