The Moto G7 family has been pretty heavily leaked over the past few weeks, but today Motorola has officially announced the devices, clearing up any questions you might still have. Yes, there are notches everywhere, but overall the lineup looks pretty strong for 2019. All the devices are launching with Android Pie, too, and that's a major plus.

The Moto G7 leads the lineup as an iterative improvement over the fantastic Moto G6 from last year. There are several new camera improvements and modes, plus Google Lens integration, and an upgraded Snapdragon 632 CPU with a longer lasting battery. At $299 the phone looks like it will offer a pretty great mid-range experience, assuming you can live with a display notch.
The Moto G7 Plus is a little more photography-focused and won't be available everywhere, which might be a little disappointing to some. But for those of you that will be able to buy it, the phone has pulled some camera features from the Moto Z line, like optical image stabilization and high-megapixel dual-cameras. Low-light performance is drastically improved, too, although it only has a 6.2-inch display that matches what's on the Moto G7. Weird for a “plus” model of anything, but oh well. This one won't be available in the US.
The Moto G7 Play is a step in a different direction for the lineup, offering a more compact experience instead of the usual “worse processor but battery battery.” The Play has the same Snapdragon 632 CPU as the regular Moto G7, but the screen shrinks to 5.7-inches. So if you like the Moto G7 but don't want that larger screen, this is your guy. It's also the cheapest option in the lineup at just $199.

Lastly, the Moto G7 Power is a newer addition to the lineup, and as the name suggests, it's all focused on battery. You're getting a massive 5000mAh battery here that's almost guaranteed to last all day under even the heaviest conditions, and it still offers Turbo Charging like everything else, so even if you do manage to drain the battery you'll have it charged back up in no time. It still has a Snapdragon 632 processor with a 6.2-inch screen, matching almost everything else in the lineup. It sits in the middle of pricing and costs $249.
Motorola's lineup this year seems a little more complicated than usual, with the devices all sharing a few similar specs and features. You have a base model G7, and from there you can opt for better cameras, a bigger battery, or a smaller screen. Otherwise, the experience is identical.
These devices should be rolling out globally in staggered releases over the next few months.
