Huawei is on pace to ship 200 million smartphones in 2018 3

Huawei has had a rough 2018 as far as news coverage goes, with tons of negative stories making multiple headlines. While that's not normally a good thing, it doesn't appear to have affected their business, as the company is set to ship over 200 million smartphones in 2018 globally.

This number includes phones from both Huawei and Honor, but still, that's an incredibly impressive feat. They'll reportedly hit that 200 million mark on December 25th. And according to Huawei they'll be releasing a special edition device to commemorate this massive milestone.

Huawei has been growing drastically over the past couple of years, overtaking Apple as the second largest manufacturer of smartphones around the world. They're still trailing Samsung, but just barely; Huawei has grown at a much faster clip than Samsung has, and that's all without much help from the US market.

So at the very least, Huawei is going to end 2018 on a fantastic note. 2019 may still be a struggle, though, with bad mojo from the previous year hanging over their brand and the smartphone market staying increasingly competitive, but Huawei is staying in a great spot to try and climb over Samsung to become the largest smartphone maker in the world.
