We love the new wave of cord cutting services like Sling TV and YouTube TV, but they're not without their own set of problems. In this case, YouTube TV decided to take a nap on Wednesday in the middle of the World Cup semifinal match between England and Croatia. It's one thing to go down in the middle of Cops reruns, but major sporting events? That's going to strike a nerve.
And if you've been on the internet in the past few days, I'm sure you've noticed plenty of complaints about it. Unfortunately, YouTube can't go back in time to fix anything, but to make it up to users Google is giving away a credit of one free week to users, which ends up being about $10 for its standard plan. It's not perfect, but hey, a 25% discount for missing less than 1% of the month could be worse.
For those of you that don't mind watching older sports games, DVR recordings of the match should be available now without any issues, too.
