Google posts April Security update for Pixel/Nexus devices – factory images and OTA files are live

It’s that time of the month again if you own a Pixel or Nexus device when Google rolls out the new Security Bulletin to help make the Android OS more secure. Both factory images and OTA files for April are available and contain a bunch of fixes for vulnerabilities ranging from moderate to critical. Join us after the break for more details. 

For the moment, there appears to a singular security update for the month April, although there are two factory images listed for the Nexus 6P for some reason. This month’s security patch brings the following new builds for the following devices:

  • OPM2.171019.029 – Pixel 2/2 XL, Pixel/XL,
  • OPM3.171019.019 & OPM5.171019.019 – Nexus 6P
  • OPM2.171019.029 – Nexus 5X
  • OPM1.171019.026 – Pixel C

While April’s Security Bulletin will roll out via OTA, if you are the impatient sort you can always download the patch and manually flash it to your Pixel or Nexus device. You can grab the relevant factory image here and the OTA files here.
