Google Home Mini is official, costs $49 and launches October 19th

The Google Home Mini wasn’t a well-kept secret, but Google has finally made it official to remove all doubt. The smaller smart device still features the powerful Google Assistant in a much smaller package with a much more wallet-friendly price tag.

Like the bigger Google Home device, you can use Google Home Mini to play music, ask questions, check your calendar entries, and control music on Chromecast speakers.

This is designed as more of a competitor to Amazon’s Echo Dot judging by its $49 price tag, and, like the Dot, features pretty much all of the staple features in a more compact package.

The device launches in chalk, charcoal, and coral, and will officially launch October 19th. Pre-orders will go live today at major retailers.
