Doesn’t matter what you and I think. If Facebook likes what the competition is doing, it’ll copy them without any shame. We’ve seen it before. We’re seeing it again. We’ll see it in the future.
An update for Facebook Messenger copies a feature from Instagram, which actually copied the feature from Snapchat. It’s an odd cycle that isn’t harming Facebook and its services in any way. Each Facebook-owned service is, believe it or not, continuing to experience growth.

Messenger Day is Facebook Messenger’s newest feature. By name, it sounds fresh and fun. Examine what it is, though, and you’ll discover that this is a story-based timeline just like the one on Instagram. But Instagram isn’t the service that broke ground with it. Snapchat made Stories, as they’re known to all, a global phenomenon. We recommend Mark Zuckerberg sends Snap’s Evan Spiegel a ‘thank you’ note for gifting Instagram and Facebook Messenger their own Stories.
What does this feature do? You already know that! Messenger Day is the place for users to upload pictures and videos that self-delete after 24 hours of digital airtime. The only noticeable difference is that Facebook calls them Days instead of Stories. Filters of all types, too, are included as is the option to send messages to specific users instead of everyone you know.
