It feels as though it has been quite a while since HTC has released positive news about its sales numbers… The wait will continue.

Earlier today, HTC announced that it expects a 30% decrease in revenue in the next quarter as the company struggles to release popular mid-range devices, and as the high-cost, low-margin HTC One fails to garner the same explosive sales as its competitor at Samsung.

In its press release, the company blames its poor quarter on a “higher cost structure and a lack of economy of scale.”

Unsurprisingly, HTC announced that they have a number of mid-range and innovative products in line for release next quarter. Hopefully their future plans turn things around for the Taiwanese phone maker, which currently ranks ninth in global market share, holding 2.4 percent of the market.

  1. I still think HTC shouldn’t have posted these ‘findings’. To me, that is the green light for Apple and Samsung to up their game as soon as possible in order to wipe HTC out.

  2. I really do think things will change when/if Downy Jr. starts to roll out commercials with their phones. Americans fucking love that guy

  3. If only the HTC one had an SD slot or was available as a 64bg version through my carrier, I would have bought one in a heartbeat.

  4. It’s because Apple and Samsung have way too much market share, even though all the HTC phones I’ve ever experiences could blow away their phones in quality, features, and specs.

    1. Wrong! HTC has not really done anything special with any of their devices except steal the UI design from Windows Mobile 8 ( Which stinks anyway ) and then do an Apple and put an Aluminum back on it which I have seen, held, tested and compared to other phones on the market with same specs as it. It’s not at all any better than any other high end phone and it lacks in specs in a few places.

HTC has not done anything revolutionary at all here, what they’ve done has been done a million times over and people just are being pathetically loyal to them. I once loved HTC till they screwed all of us over, then put out nothing but sub-par upgrades for two straight years. THAT is what cost them their market share right there and they bloody know it.

I’m not loyal to a single company ever, because I know full well once you become that loyal, you get burned. When you hold a S4, Xperia Z, LG, or other high end phone in one hand and the One in the other, you’ll quickly see it’s no better quality than the others. That aluminum back everyone brags about is so thin, it’s only there for looks. It’s also not any stronger than plastic is at that point.

Their so called camera technology ( Which on all smartphones I feel this one is a joke pretty much ) is nothing but pixel stacking. Those sensors are too small for the amount of pixels these companies are stacking and can never compare to a real dedicated point and shoot camera. And if you think I’m kidding go and pull their images into Photoshop along side a real camera’s image and zoom in. You’ll find out real quick how low quality they can be.

HTC is just like all the rest when it comes down to it, no better or worse in most regards. Just so many want to believe they are because they’re simply being sympathetic to a company that was once considered the best in mobile industry, that has fallen from grace due to bad mistakes in their past. Asus, Sony, and a few others out there I’m seeing are starting to take after Samsung in a lot of ways and I hope they can bring Samsung down a few notches. But HTC will never be the one to do that…. My money is on Sony for now…

      1. RTWright I don’t know where your comments are comming from but you are the person that’s wrong. I think u need to go read the 500 articles that are about on the net about how good the HTC one really is. Your personal opinion does not count.

      2. Seriously? No. I am typing this from my HTC One and I can tell you for a fact that it’s nnothing like WP8! Yeah, BlinkFeed might look a tad like live tiles from WP8, but that’s it!
