When Google introduced Chromecast, one of the biggest selling points was that it was device-independent. It didn't matter what version of Android you were on, as long as you had the Chromecast and updated your apps to support it, you were good to go. For the most part, that holds true, just not for Verizon Droid RAZR owners.
Apparently, there is some kind of bug with the RAZR that prevents it from casting anything from Google Play Music or Google Play Movies & TV. The icon for casting simply doesn't appear. The bug doesn't affect YouTube and Netflix apps, and other Verizon and Motorola devices are seemingly unaffected, so this is specific to just the RAZR, and likely the RAZR MAXX. It's tough to tell if this bug is because of Motorola software on the device or simply a quirk in the updated versions of Google's Play apps. I guess we'll find out soon.

You would think Google would have said something about this by now. I can’t find any mention of it from the company. Has anyone else?
I got an update last night to google music that fixed it, it didnt change the version # of google music, but it did change build # so probably a smallish bug. Movies and tv still doesnt work for me, and the chromecast setup app still cant find it on my droid 4.
I have the same problem on my Droid 4. Works perfectly with netflix and youtube and pc/mac/ios. I set it up using my pc, but the android chromecast setup app was never able to find the device. I assumed it was just problem with my dual band router (which actually the pc can cast regardless of whether it’s on the 2.4ghz or 5ghz side of the network.
Verizon Droid Bionic as well.
My Razr Maxx can find the Chromecast and I can match the code on the screen, but it refuses to connect claiming I don’t have UPnP enabled in my router. I do have UPnP enabled, and I can get Chromecast to work with my laptop, just not my Razr Maxx.
I also have the same problem, my Razr Maxx can’t find a chromecast device.
My Razr Maxx can’t even see my chromecast
This is also a problem with the Motorola Droid 4 which is basically the same as the RAZR with a physical keyboard.
I have a Razr Maxx and Droid X I can’t even get the Chromecast setup; It always gives me a communications error with both devices. However, I can connect with a laptop and setup it up and a friend used a GS4 and connected right away.
You guessed it, problem on my Razr Maxx too.
Also have a Bionic with this issue.
Problem is on the Bionic as well.
