Got a shiny new phone with HDR10+ support? Maybe a brand new 4K TV that supports all the latest HDR formats? Those screens are no good if you don't have anything fun to show off on them.
Google Play Movies is a great place to start, and we've rounded up some of the best 4K HDR content on Google's streaming service. Give these a rent (or buy them, if you'd prefer) and wow your eyeballs on movie night this week.
Blade Runner 2049

Blade Runner 2049 came out a couple years ago, but still holds up as an excellent sequel to the original Blade Runner from 1982. Harrison Ford makes a return alongside Ryan Gosling and Jared Leto in a gripping drama that looks just gorgeous.
It's nearly three hours long, so buckle up, but the acting is great and the CGI and special effects keep things interesting. There are a ton of scenes that really show off the usefulness of HDR, including tons of low-light and night scenes with broad ranges of color.
Check this one out.
Baby Driver

Another flick from 2017, Baby Driver was one of the most fun movies of the year. It's an Edgar Wright movie, too, so there are tons of tiny details that cinephiles are going to love.
This one's a fun movie for pushing speaker systems, too, and the soundtrack is one of the best parts of the movie. It plays a vital role in the plot, too, so don't think we're just hyping up earbuds.
But most importantly, it's one of the best 4k HDR movies on Play Movies. There are loads of bright and colorful scenes backed up with fast cars and serious action that make this one worth watching more than once.
John Wick (or 2, or 3)

I'm probably a little biased on this one because the original John Wick was the first movie I got to experience in 4K HDR, but the entire trilogy is a nearly perfect set of movies to break in a new TV or high-end smartphone. They're just fantastic movies with some of the best action cinematography around, but they look absolutely stunning from start to finish, too.
Whether it's the pulse-pounding neon nightclub scene from the first John Wick, the creepy catacombs of John Wick: Chapter 2, or the hallways full of mirrors (and gunshots) John Wick: Chapter 3: Parabellum's hotel climax, there are so many great sections to watch just to be amazed at how good a movie can look these days. If you're an action movie fan, you really owe it to yourself to check this trilogy out.
The Greatest Showman

Hugh Jackman, maybe surprisingly, really likes to make musicals. Maybe even more surprisingly is that he's actually pretty good at them. Never really imagined Wolverine as much of a singer or dancer, you know?
But Hugh Jackman and Zac Efron teamed up for a fun romp through circus history with The Greatest Showman, which follows P.T. Barnum as he builds a circus up from nothing. It's full of catchy tunes and all the atmosphere of a crazy circus act, which is exactly what makes it such a good 4K HDR movie.
Interstellar

I'll be the first to admit that Matthew McConaughey really wasn't on my list for any good movies during the early parts of his career, except with maybe Dazed and Confused. But at some point it seems like he decided to flip a switch and started picking some really good roles right around that first season of True Detective, and this eventually landed him right in Christopher Nolan's acclaimed Interstellar.
Not even counting how insanely good the writing and plot of Interstellar is, it's just a great movie to watch. Whether it's the dusty, dry plains of what's left on Earth, waterlogged, freezing planets, or the emptiness of outer space, this is one of those movies that really deserves what a good HDR screen can do for it. It's also a good movie to watch a few times over for good measure.
