There was an idea. It was to bring together, a group of remarkable… devices… to see if they could become something more. Infinix called it, the GT Verse. Step aside ROG and RedMagic, a new gaming product line has just been launched, and the company seems to want the latest GT 20 Pro to spearhead its introduction.
Infinix GT 20 Pro: The ‘Shining’ Release
Launched just right at the tail end of April, the GT 20 Pro was launched as the latest gaming powerhouse by the company. It featured a striking lined design with mechanical elements, and an eye-catching RGB LED indicator on the back panel. It was indeed powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8200, and was poised to be the flagship phone with all the modern updates to its compute processing and connectivity as many 2024 devices have shown so far.
GT Verse: Enter Infinix's Gaming Brand
If you are familiar with Lenovo’s Legion, Acer’s Predator, and Asus’ ROG products, then the concept of the GT Verse is no longer new to you. Technically defined, it is a holistic gaming ecosystem that encompasses a wide range of top-of-the-line devices, including smartphones, laptops, earphones, smartwatches, and even cooling fans. High performance in the name of gaming is the main theme, pushing brand recognition with more expensive products that hopefully fulfill the design philosophy of their gaming-centric applications.
To that end, Infinix has claimed to work closely with industry leaders like Nvidia and MediaTek to “develop cutting-edge technologies that enhance gaming performance, visual quality, and power efficiency”. The ecosystem is made so that related devices would work seamlessly to “deliver the modern gaming experience.”
GT 20 Pro and the GT Verse
So, how does the GT 20 Pro fit into the grand scheme of the GT Verse? As pointed out earlier, the smartphone is largely showcased as a gaming machine, similar to the likes of Nubia's RedMagic and Xiaomi's now-defunct Black Shark product lines. Based on the marketing provided for the platform so far, Infinix wants the GT 20 Pro to be its smartphone gaming representative, similar to how it currently uses the GT Book as its laptop gaming representative.
Also, new GT 20 Pro owners can avail of certain special gaming accessories related to the brand. Need a more precise touch controller for your favorite first-person shooter? At least one future product from the GT Verse probably has you covered. How about keeping your phone cool during extended gaming sessions? Just snap on GT Verse’s branded cooling fan and call it a day.
GT Verse Marketing Focus?
The timing of GT Verse’s launch syncing with the GT 20 Pro is simply too good to be a mere coincidence. Sure, the company is trying to hype up the ecosystem from a multi-product standpoint. However, the GT 20 Pro still holds a significant marketing focus given its product tier and customizability standpoint within the ecosystem.
So then, are these all just a fancy invitation to join Infinix's little gaming club? Well, we can at least safely presume that it is yet another platform for the company to sell more devices and accessories.
But as we have seen in other premium gaming brands, all you really need to do is to be consistent enough in terms of quality to gain a fan following. Given the GT 20 Pro’s stable launch so far, we can eagerly wait to see Infinix’s GT Verse go toe-to-toe with more established players out there.
