If you've ever thought your Maxwell 2 looked a little too understated for your setup, Audeze has something for you. The company today launched ReSkin, a new program built on the Maxwell 2's existing user-swappable magnetic earcup cover system, offering owners a lineup of limited-edition designs to choose from.

Six Designs at Launch

Six styles are available now: the Panopticon All-Seeing Eye, the Flux Warning Futuristic Biohazard Sign, the Kankan Koneko Angry Cat, the Planar Scan (an Audeze driver-inspired design), the White Audeze Deco Cup, and the Prestige Edition Dia De Los Muertos series, which runs from No.001 through No.006.

That last set is the headline piece. The Dia De Los Muertos covers are handcrafted by a Southern California artisan and finished with a high-gloss lacquer, so they're less “gaming accessory” and more collectible art.

Quick Swap, No Tools Required

The magnetic design means swapping covers takes seconds — just pull one off and press another on. Audeze says it will release new designs and collaborations on a rolling basis, so the ReSkin range will grow over time. That's a smart move for keeping the Maxwell 2 relevant as newer headsets enter the market.

Pricing and Compatibility

ReSkin earcups are priced at either $39.99 or $59.99, depending on the design, and work with both PlayStation and Xbox versions of the Maxwell 2. They're available now at audeze.com.

For Maxwell 2 owners who are happy with their headset's audio but want something fresher to look at, this is a pretty easy upgrade. Whether the broader gaming audience will pay $40-$60 for earcup aesthetics is another question — but for the Prestige Edition designs especially, there's a real collector appeal here.
