Transsion Holdings, the parent company of smartphone brands like Tecno and Infinix which are extremely popular in developing countries, was one of the top four smartphone manufacturers in the world for the first time in Q1 2024, and for good reason considering how much value they bring at lower prices.

Infinix has just unveiled its newest gaming device, called the Infinix GT 20 Pro, and for gamers, a simple look at the spec sheet and the phone's design should get you excited to know more. Let's talk about it.

The Infinix GT 20 Pro Is A High-End Gaming Smartphone With A Very “Gamer” Design

The Infinix GT 20 Pro is the successor to the GT 10 Pro from last year, and its design definitely stands out as a very gamer-centric one. However, so do the specs, so this device excels in both form and function.

The Design

The first thing that you'll probably notice about the Infinix GT 20 Pro is that it has a very “mechanical” design. It's hard to describe, but it is done up in a metallic type of finish with all sorts of panels and pieces to make it look even more “tech”. There's a (mostly) circular RGB LED indicator that takes up a lot of the back panel, which is definitely the kind of feature you can only ever see on a gaming phone.

The front consists of a flat screen with very thin bezels, the frames are flat, and the camera module is square with one beveled corner. Generally speaking, it tries to hit on the gamer aesthetic in its own kind of way.

The Screen

The display is very impressive. It is a 6.78-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a peak refresh rate of 144Hz, up to a 360Hz touch sampling rate, and a peak brightness of 1300 nits. It comes with a dedicated Pixelworks X5 Turbo Gaming display chip which doesn't just enable 120 FPS gaming capabilities but also uses about 30% less power than the phone would if it didn't have a dedicated display chip.

The Hardware

Inside this phone is a MediaTek Dimensity 8200 Ultimate processor, which is no slouch. It is built on a 4nm process so you can expect good power efficiency from the chip. It runs on Android 14 skinned with XOS 14. You also get 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage which you can pair with either 8GB or 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM. There's also a dedicated microSD slot for more space.

The battery is 5,000 mAh, which is rather small in the world of gaming phones and just average in the world of regular flagships. It can be charged with up to 45W when wired. It has enough space for a headphone jack so it's particularly annoying that Infinix couldn't go for a larger cell for this phone. It also has an IR blaster.

The Cameras

It goes for a massive 108MP camera with OIS as the primary shooter, so it's a bit underwhelming when you realize its triple camera setup is completed with a 2MP macro and a 2MP depth sensor. I'd have told them to leave the extra cameras out of it; a gaming phone has the best excuse not to do the multiple-camera thing. There's a quad-LED flash on the back and you'll be able to record up to 4K at 60fps. On the front side is a regular 32MP that's capable of recording 2K at up to 30fps.

The Pricing

If you want the Infinix GT 20 Pro, you should go for it. It brings a few perks over the GT 10 Pro, and you can currently get it in certain regions like Saudi Arabia, though it's going to set you back about $346. To be honest, that's not too bad, and if you don't have too many concerns about a fat battery or great cameras, this will do the job fantastic.

The device is available in Mecha Orange, Mecha Blue, and Mecha Silver.
