Welcome to Frostpunk Beyond the Ice, where you are left in the ice alone with a generator, will you be able to produce enough heat and build your city?
In Frostpunk Beyond the Ice, heat comes first, and then everything else comes afterwards with a price.
You will be asked to collect resources, find survivors, build your city, and keep it running with enough heat, food, and gold.
It might seem easy, but it’s not like any other game, as with every decision you make, you pay the price. That’s why we made the Frostpunk Beyond the Ice ultimate game guide.
Frostpunk Beyond The Ice – Basics
Wilderness Survival

17 December 1886 Winter, you are left in the snow, the weather is freezing, and you are almost dying with nothing left in your bag, and suddenly you find a generator!
This generator in Frostpunk Beyond the Ice is your only hope; it uses coal to produce enough heat for your city, which we will get to later on.
You will be responsible for finding enough resources for your city, but in order to do that, you need people to work.

Four survivors will arrive, and you can start assigning each of them a task to run the city.
But in order to activate that generator, you need enough coal, which you can assign those survivors to gather by giving them orders as a captain.
Coal

Going to the resources in Frostpunk Beyond the Ice, first you will find some resources buried under the ice where workers can gather; later on, you will need to have buildings that will automatically generate coal and other resources for you.
The first thing you need to do is click on the coal pile, which is colored black, and assign workers to it.

Once you click on the coal pile, you will need to assign at most 2 workers to each pile you find.
Click on the “+” sign to add workers, or on the -sign if you need those workers for another task that is more important.
Each coal pile, just like any resource found in snow, has a few resources. After that, workers will be released, and you will be asked to find an alternative.
After producing coal, you will need to collect the gathered coal in order to activate the generator.

Also to get coal faster or any other resource manually by helping the workers by clicking on the man with an axe to collect instant coal.
Keep in mind that you get tired after hard work, so after collecting some coal, you will need to rest a bit, then get back to work and gather more.

Now it’s time to activate the generator, which is the most important building. The generator is the only thing that keeps your city alive.
Later on, we will discuss how to generate heat through the generator and how to optimize its heat to keep all the roads working.
Keep in mind that the amount of coal must reach the safe line in Frostpunk Beyond the Ice, or else people will leave your camp due to the extreme cold, so keep an eye on the warehouse to ensure you have enough coal.
Wood

Your city is warm, and everything is running smoothly with the heat. Now you need to look for wood.
Wood is the resource that you need to construct buildings; wood can be gathered from nearby coniferous forests.
Just like the coal, you can press on the trees nearby and start assigning workers to gather enough wood.
Know that you can get wood in many different ways, but as a beginner, you will need to get it from the forest.
Food

The last important resource to keep your city running in Frostpunk Beyond the Ice is food. As a beginner, you will also need to gather it from the ice in frozen food piles.
Frozen food piles provide 50 potatoes, which keeps your survivor’s belly full so that they won’t leave your city.
But just like any other resource, coal pikes, trees, and potatoes near the camp are limited, so you will need to build coal mines, greenhouses, and lumberyards that can provide you with an unlimited amount of resources.
Buildings in Frostpunk Beyond the Ice
Dwelling

Let’s start with all the buildings you will need to build your perfect city. The first category of buildings is dwellings, where you can build anything related to survivors.
The first thing you will be able to build is a tent, which only costs you 15 wood to build. Tents are used as a shelter for survivors and workers.
Each of the tents would have several upgrades, each of which would cost more resources but would provide you with more gold.
The second upgrade for the tents is the premium tents, and then we got the bunkhouse and premium bunkhouse.

Each tent or house you build will require more wood, but what’s more important is the bed frames. You will need a lot of bedframes in order to build them so that the survivors will have a place to sleep.
Bed frames in Frostpunk Beyond the Ice can be acquired in many different ways; you can just buy them from the market, which we will get to later on.
You can also get bed frames by meeting the demands of the people; it’s a trade where they ask for specific resources and give you gold, EXP, and many other valuable items, such as bed frames.

In Frostpunk Beyond the Ice, it’s easy to upgrade a building once you meet the required amount of resources. All you have to do is pull, for example, the premium tent and place it on the older tent to upgrade it.
Also, in the dwelling section, you can build a tax office, which is one of the most important ways to gain more gold.
There is also the Children’s Home, where you can build it using golden bars, which are a rare currency in Frostpunk Beyond the Ice.
Special Buildings

The special category of buildings is a bit more complicated than the dwelling one, as in here you build one of each as a starter, and they are really special.
The first thing to build is the production workshop, where you can use your resources, such as coal, wood, and food, to produce semi-complete items.
So, you can produce planks, bricks, aspic, scaffold, sandwiches, and candles; those items can be used to meet people’s demands.
Also, you can use these items to produce even better items or just sell them in the market to gain more gold.

You can also build a cookhouse where people eat and you can distribute food to them. The cookhouse uses potatoes as the main source of food.
You will have 5 plans to pick from, starting from starving to full. The higher you go, the more potatoes it requires to work; keeping it on normal will always make a balance.
You need to always make sure that it’s full and check its status so that people don’t starve and leave your camp.
Also, you can make it automatically by connecting them to greenhouses, which we will get to later in Frostpunk Beyond the Ice.

Also, from the special buildings, you can build Beacon, where you can fire flares to guide more survivors to your place or collect expert shards so that they can help you.
Flares can be obtained from finishing quests or buying them from the market.
Radio Tower is also available in this section, so you can find and communicate with other city leaders.
Craftwork Factory, where you can produce many items such as teapots, lights, pocket watches, steam cores, and typewriters.

And one of the most important things is the trade base, where you can buy and sell items. This building requires a true trader, so you can make a fortune.
In the Frostpunk Beyond the Ice trade base, items don’t have a standard price, so people can sell it at their maximum or minimum price.
The shop refreshes every 60 seconds, so you need to keep an eye on it so you can buy items at low prices.
You can also resell those items for higher prices if they have high demand, or you can use them to upgrade your own city.
Remember that the higher the level, the more buildings you will be able to build with more features.
Expansion Buildings

In the Frostpunk Beyond the Ice expansion section, you will find buildings that you have previously built, such as the cookhouse and production workshop, where you can build an extra building for each and expand your city.
Also note that they would give you more bonuses, such as less food consumption and less cooldown for producing products.
You can also build the warehouse, which is one of the most important structures where you store your items. You will need to constantly upgrade it to always have space for more items.
Resources Buildings

After we have built all the main buildings in Frostpunk Beyond the Ice, it’s time to build resource buildings that will support the whole system.
As we mentioned before, the resources around the city are limited, and you need to build resource buildings in order to keep the flow going.
The first building is the greenhouse, where potatoes are produced; then we have the coal mine, where coal is produced; and then we have the lumberyard, where wood is produced.
In Frostpunk Beyond the Ice, everything is calculated; all those resource buildings can be upgraded, but to increase their efficiency, you need to build a resource base.
Decoration Buildings

The decorative buildings are not useless like many games; they are not just for decorating your city. Frostpunk Beyond the Ice made them very useful.
Besides having a great look at your city, each of the buildings would generate money per day; the better they are, the more money you get.
You don’t have to build them right away, but once you have more resources than you need, you can start spending them on decoration.
Road

Moving to the roads, the roads are the most important thing you will be building, as they are the only way to connect your city to the generator and allow the heat to pass through.
All roads should be connected to each other and to the generator; any building that is not connected to the heated road would get frozen and be out of service.
Roads cost you Shilling, the currency of Frostpunk Beyond the Ice. You can build them at 1/3/10 grid(s) to both have a good look for your city and to connect it together.
How to Maintain Your Town
Connect Resource Buildings

Each of your resource’s buildings can be connected to the building it is related to, so first click on the connecting button on the bottom left of the screen and drag from each building to the bigger one to connect or disconnect.
Then you can connect all of your coal mines to the generator in order to automatically transport them, but keep in mind that you need to place them closer to the generator.
You also need to connect all of your greenhouses to the cookhouse to make it work automatically.
Notice that you need to activate the transport mode for each of the generators and the cookhouse by clicking on them, pressing the double arrows below their names, and selecting the mode you wish to activate.
Check Generator Demand

The generator has many levels of steam, each of which would give a specific output. You need to always check the generator demand and match the output with it by increasing the level on the right hand.
Keep in mind that the higher the output, the more coal it will use. Always keep an eye on the safety line so your buildings don’t freeze.
Knowing that the generator is the only thing keeping your whole city working, the higher the heat, the more area it covers and the more productivity your city gets.
Meet People’s Demands

People will always demand different items in the city; always produce what they need, as in exchange, you will receive valuable rewards.
Each time they ask for something, you will be able to either accept the request or decline it, but be careful that it might have a significant effect.
Manage Your Production

In Frostpunk Beyond the Ice, you are responsible for everything, starting with producing resources and assigning tasks.
On the left bottom of the screen, next to the market icon, you will find the production management section. From there, you can assign workers for any task faster, and you can also upgrade their productivity.
You need to always manage your production, so you don’t get below the safe line. Your indicator is the output number; if it’s green, you are doing great; if it’s red, you need to reconsider your spending.
Complete Missions

In Frostpunk Beyond the Ice, there are a lot of missions that would give you rewards, but not only that, there are a lot of free rewards.
Don’t forget to claim your daily rewards, as Frostpunk Beyond the Ice is giving away tons of free rewards for its early access.

Conclusion
Frostpunk Beyond the Ice shows players the unforgiving world where survival hinges upon the balance of heat, resources, and strategic decision-making.
Starting from the struggle for warmth with a generator to managing a whole city, each choice has its own consequence.
You can start navigating the challenges of Frostpunk Beyond the ice with confidence and conquer the icy wilderness.
