Google's foldable finally looks like it's shedding the compromises that came with the format. Pixel 11 Pro Fold launched today nearly 10 percent lighter and about a millimeter thinner than the Pixel 10 Pro Fold, while Google says it's also three times more durable than last year's model.

The durability gains come from a new glass fiber composite back cover that Google describes as nearly impossible to crack, paired with a redesigned gearless hinge and a Super Actua outer display built from ceramic cover glass. Both the inner and outer screens are 20 percent brighter than last year at up to 3,600 nits, and the new hinge's larger bend radius also improves crease visibility on the inner display.
Pixel 11 Pro Fold picks up the same HiLight feature debuting on the Pro and Pro XL, using LEDs around the camera flash to glow for incoming calls or while Gemini is listening. It ships in Obsidian and a new Olive colorway, with thinner bezels than the outgoing model.
Why It Matters
Foldables have always asked you to trade durability and thinness for the extra screen, and Google is explicitly targeting that trade this year rather than just adding features. A back cover that resists cracking and a hinge rated for three times the durability matters more for a Fold than almost any other spec, since the fold itself is usually where these phones fail first.
The sign-to-text feature is the more unusual addition. Built with the Deaf community, it translates American Sign Language into text in real time through the front camera, with translations appearing on the outer display so a hands-free, one or two-handed conversation is possible without the signer needing to hold the phone up to check output. It's a genuinely different use case than the productivity multitasking foldables are usually sold on.

Under the hood, Pixel 11 Pro Fold runs the new Tensor G6 chip with 16GB of RAM. Charging improves too, with 30W wired charging getting you to 50 percent in about 30 minutes and wireless charging up to 25W over Qi2.2, a 20 percent improvement over last year. Battery life is rated at more than 24 hours.
The camera system gets a new 48-megapixel main sensor and telephoto zoom up to 30x, alongside Magic Capture and Camera Looks for stylizing shots. Foldable-specific software carries over, including optimized bubbles for multitasking, Split Screen, Instant View, and Drag and Drop, plus the same proactive Gemini assistance and Circle to Search integration found across the rest of the Pixel 11 lineup.
