It’s funny how I’m finally ready for Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile with a gaming phone that should handle it in a breeze. Unfortunately, the app is no longer accepting admissions. Activision has officially shut down the servers as of April 17, 2026.

After just over two years since the game's global launch in March 2024, Warzone Mobile is gone for good and is no longer on app stores. The first CoDM game is now the future of the first-person shooter franchise.

Say farewell to Warzone on mobile

Earlier in February this year, Activision announced shutting down CoD: Warzone Mobile’s servers permanently. Anyone with unused COD Points will lose them with no refunds offered.

The game maker is now redirecting all former players toward Call of Duty: Mobile, which is still active, or the free-to-play PC and console versions of Warzone.

We are deeply grateful to the community that supported Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile and the developers who brought the experience to life. Player passion and feedback continue to shape the future of the Call of Duty® franchise, and we look forward to delivering meaningful seasonal content and updates to Call of Duty®: Mobile.

As for why they're shutting it down, the game simply didn’t perform well enough in consistent mobile engagement and revenue. Warzone Mobile was built like a scaled-down console game, but it seems players prefer faster matches, and especially lower hardware demands.

Warzone Mobile was the opposite of these things as it leaned into large maps, and heavier performance requirements. It's expected, given that the app was built to mirror the console experience more closely.

What was unexpected was jumping from their initial requirement. It cut off a massive number of still-active devices, especially in regions where people don't upgrade phones regularly. It was a badly timed move for the market they were targeting.

Before the November 2024 update, the game was relatively accessible with at least Android 9, 3GB of RAM, and the Adreno 530 GPU. After the update, you needed Android 13, a GPU that supports bindless texturing, which basically means a more modern graphics chip from recent Snapdragon, Exynos, or equivalent platforms.

Switch to Call of Duty: Mobile now

If you played as a guest on Warzone Mobile, you lose your account. A guest account is temporary storage tied to the game’s servers, and isn’t properly linked to the broader system.

But if you used a proper Activision account, you can still log into other Call of Duty games or Activision services with it. It exists independently of Warzone Mobile and is part of the company's wider ecosystem.

For now, Call of Duty: Mobile remains the game's best alternative. It's much lighter, faster, and mixes modes like classic multiplayer, battle royale, zombies, and rotating arcade-style events. It even launched first in October 2019. Warzone Mobile arrived much later, with its global release in March 2024.

The former is currently on both Google Play and Apple App stores for free, with a base file size of 1.7GB. in-game content may stretch it up to 40GB.
