If you’ve noticed more somber faces than usual on the streets lately, you’re not imagining things. Apple TV+ subscribers are grappling with bittersweet news: the streamer has confirmed that one of its flagship sci-fi series is approaching its end.

For All Mankind Heads Into Its Last Chapter

Apple TV+, widely recognized for hosting top-tier science fiction shows, revealed that For All Mankind will finish its run after a sixth season. On Friday, March 27, 2026, the highly anticipated fifth season began streaming, reigniting fan excitement while also marking the beginning of the final stretch.

The upside is that season 5 will be followed by a sixth and concluding season, reportedly planned for 2027 or early 2028. However, that sixth season will close the book on the drama. For All Mankind, created by Ronald D. Moore, Matt Wolpert, and Ben Nedivi, has achieved critical acclaim (reportedly averaging a 91% rating and earning two Emmy Awards), but this upcoming chapter will bring the story to a deliberate finish.

Creators Confirm the End—and Express Their Gratitude

In an official statement, the show’s creators confirmed that the series will conclude with season six, sharing how grateful they are to wrap up the story the way they envisioned. The statement reads:

“Having had the chance to explore the universe of ‘For All Mankind' over six seasons has been an exceptional privilege, and we’re thrilled to be able to finish this story just as we’d hoped. We are very proud of what this series has become and are grateful to Apple TV+ and Sony Pictures Television for helping us see it all the way through to its final chapter.”

What’s Next in Season 5?

Season 5 returned in late March 2026 and continues to air weekly, with new episodes rolling out each week through May 29, 2026. The latest storyline centers on Happy Valley, now a booming Martian settlement with thousands of residents. This community has grown into a hub for new missions exploring the solar system. As stakes on the Red Planet get higher, political tensions rise between the Martian settlers and their former nations on Earth over claims to Martian territory and law.

Returning Favorites and New Arrivals

This season sees the return of fan favorites including Joel Kinnaman, Toby Kebbell, Edi Gathegi, Cynthy Wu, Coral Peña, and Wrenn Schmidt. New cast members joining the world of For All Mankind this year include Mireille Enos (The Killing), Costa Ronin (The Americans, Homeland), Sean Kaufman (The Summer I Turned Pretty), Ruby Cruz (Bottoms), and Ines Asserson (Royalteen: The Heir).

As the fifth season unfolds, viewers can brace for escalating drama and the series’ approach to its long-awaited conclusion. With the final season on the horizon, For All Mankind is preparing for a memorable liftoff and a true ending to its bold alternate-history journey.
