Roku already refreshed its lineup earlier this year with two streaming sticks back in April. The Streaming Stick and Streaming Stick Plus offer 4K HDR performance in a tiny shell within a $30-$40 price range.

Both sticks are getting their first major discounts today, with prices that make them even more accessible. Roku is knocking up to $11 off in a limited-time Amazon deal. Hurry now and grab them before it expires.

The Streaming Stick HD is Roku’s latest entry-level streamer. It supports 1080p resolution at 60 frames per second, which is still enough for most older TVs and secondary screens. The stick itself is 3.7 inches and plugs directly into your TV’s HDMI port, drawing power through USB. If the USB port doesn’t provide enough power, you’ll need to use a wall adapter, but that’s fairly standard.

The stick offers streaming over dual-band Wi-Fi. There’s no support for Dolby Vision, HDR10, or any advanced video formats. Basically, it's a standard SDR playback device. Although it may sound limiting, it’s more than adequate for casual viewing.

You also get access to all major streaming services including Netflix, Prime Video, Hulu, Disney+, Apple TV+, YouTube, and the Roku Channel with a surprisingly large library of free live and on-demand content The included Roku Voice Remote connects via Bluetooth to the stick and uses IR for TV volume and power.

Roku Streaming Stick Plus (2025)

The Roku Streaming Stick Plus supports full 4K Ultra HD resolution with HDR10, HDR10+, and HLG. It's actually smaller than the base model, despite being the more powerful device. By contrast, it feels more future-proofed for the majority of households.

The earlier Roku Streaming Stick can't match a 4K HDR-capable screen because it can't upscale to adapt content. It simply doesn’t take advantage of what your screen can do.

But the Plus model guarantees that you'll be ready for 4K content even if you're not fully in the ecosystem. You'll escape overpaying for premium-tier streamers like the Roku Ultra. The OS performance is nearly identical between the two sticks.

Endless entertainment is one stick away

If you’ve been holding onto an older stick, this is your sign to let it go. With Netflix and others cutting off legacy streamers, now’s the time to make the jump to better alternatives. Thankfully, you don’t need to spend a fortune to do it. You’ll instantly gain smoother performance and better visual quality across all your apps on your new device.

It’s also a good time to make sure your home network can keep up with these changes. Use a solid Wi-Fi connection, or better yet a wired Ethernet connection where possible, to get the full benefit of these upgrades. Don't forget to explore your device's settings to enable the best available video and audio quality your hardware can support.
