Google got into the foldable market pretty late, releasing its first foldable smartphone in 2023 (while the pioneers were around before the turn of the decade). While its first foldable was very rough around the edges, the confusingly-named Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold refined the formula with a lot of tact. While a little underpowered, it's a good phone.
This year, along with the Google Pixel 10 lineup, we're expecting to see the Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold. The device should polish last year's foldable formula, and thanks to a spec sheet that has just leaked from Android Headlines, we get to see a lot of the ways it will do that. In fact, the Pixel 10 Pro Fold will lead the segment in some interesting ways.
The Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold Will Have a Rather Respectable Spec Sheet

In the United States, there aren't too many foldable options that consumers can easily buy. If you want a book-style foldable, sure, you can pick the Z Fold 7 or the dated OnePlus Open, but aside from those, Google's entries in the segment are the only other good options. It shouldn't be surprising that there's so much attention being paid to what the tech giant is planning to bring to the folding table this year.
Let's start by talking about the cover display since essentially nothing will change with the 8-inch inner unit. That will see a few improvements in quality, so there's nothing to complain about there:
- 6.4-inch cover display, 0.1 inches larger than last year
- 3,000-nit peak brightness, 300 nits brighter than last year
- Thinner bezels than last year
On the back, the cameras aren't going to change too much, which is a little disappointing, considering the foldable got weaker cameras than the other Pro phones. The primary will be a 48MP unit, along with a 10.5MP ultrawide and a 10.8MP 5x telephoto. Both displays will have a 10MP selfie shooter. As expected, the Tensor G5 will be the chip of choice, paired with 16GB of RAM like last year. There will also be a new 1TB storage option.
Google's Next Foldable Will Come With Class-Leading Dust Resistance

One area where the Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold will stand out far from the competition is in its dust and water resistance, or its IP rating, as you might know it. Most modern foldables are able to achieve an IP48 rating, including the new Galaxy Z Fold 7. However, the recently launched Honor Magic V5 was able to push that up to IP58/IP59.

That crown won't sit on Honor's head for long, though, as rumor has it that the Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold will push things up to IP68, which should make the foldable as resistant to dust and water as the average flagship smartphone. That would be a major win for the segment as a whole. You can be less afraid of the beach.
The Battery in the Pixel 10 Pro Fold Will Be the Largest Non-Silicon-Carbon Foldable Cell

The battery in the Pixel 10 Pro Fold will get a little bit bigger, moving up from 4,650mAh to 5,015mAh. That's not the biggest jump, but it is notably because it would mark the biggest non-silicon-carbon battery in a foldable smartphone. While it would be nice for the company to simply adopt the new tech, it's not a bad thing to see them push the old tech as far as it can go.
